Setting The Phoenix Suns, Spurs Style

By Judy Ramsook
Dec. 29, 2004

Last night as I made myself comfortable to watch what was coined as the 'Battle Of The West' between the San Antonio Spurs and the Phoenix Suns, I thought to myself: 'This should be interesting. Especially with Phoenix's record of 24-3 to the Spurs 22-6.

With Tim Duncan leading his two time NBA team, and Steve Nash, formerly of the Dallas Mavericks team making their way onto the court, I thought again, this is either going to be a nail biter of a game or a blow out.

The Phoenix Suns indeed made themselves heard in the first quarter by making a good portion of their shots count, scoring thirty five points, at which time I thought, well I guess it is going to be one of those nights.

With the SBC Center filled to capacity, the second quarter was underway with the Spurs showing more defense and offense with Parker scoring thirteen points in the second quarter and ten in the third, at which time I thought well all looks well for the home team, but then we still have the fourth quarter left.

An entire twelve more minutes for the Phoenix Suns to make a comeback. But with Parker scoring fourteen out of twenty shots in the fourth quarter, things looked grim for the team from Phoenix.

By the time the game clock reached zero at the end of the fourth quarter, the San Antonio Spurs had indeed outscored the Phoenix Suns with a final score of 115 to the Suns 94, adding the Suns their fourth loss of the season and the Spurs their twenty third victory. Thus setting the sun for Phoenix as the Spurs look ahead to the next game.
