Dec. 28, 2004 The Bible, that collection of sixty six books is not the most dangerous book. It is the people who interpet it their way that are dangerous. Considering the fact that there are those that have tried to stop if for years even banning it. Why because they take exception to what is said or written as they have things since the beginning of time. If I make mistakes here that I do not catch it because I have a badly lacerated finger. Don't ask me how I got it hung on a nail but I did. Which brings me to a pet peeve that will come later. We have a constitution written because of the bible and indeed all laws have a basis in the old ones. I can agree that there are those things missing from the bible that needs clarification. In that Joseph did not just disappear after Jesus birth. It is known that he and Mary had children of their own. Perhaps the Disciples who wrote their own account was caught up in the deity of Christ that they only reported what they saw and learned from the Christ. The real Christian is not threatened by anyone challenging the Bible because of their belief. But I do have a problem with apologizing because I happen to beleive in the basics of the Bible. However I believe that those who have a different custom at this time of the year have their reasons and don't owe me an apology. Now for just one thing and this is rendered in the context for which it is intended. Why on earth would anyone believe that shepherds would not be tending sheep in December? I ask that question because my father was a farmer we had sheep and cows, goats etc. That is a year round job they do not tend to themselves. But as I said before it really is immaterial to what date Christ was born. But the you have to know the scriptures and other signs. It is just this that this is the time of the year when it is the darkest and if you do read the New Testament there is one word repeated. Light and it was proven that a new constellation shown in the skies. The more that man tries to prove that God does not exist the more it seems he does. Now for that pet peeve. Why is it that when you go to the emergency room with a lacerated finger or other calamnity it seems that certain groups are having a family reunion? These large groups of people showing up when the family member only has a cold or is coming off a drunk take up space for the families that have real concerns. It seemed this group was there to watch a football game or party and one couple there whose member was being treated for complications of cancer. Me if I am not dying I don't want a large contigment getting in the way of hospital personnel. Nor do I want to set off hospital equipment with cell phones. I guess it was because it was the day after Christmas that all the revelers partied in the waiting room. I asked the charge nurse if any of the people in the ER was in life threatening situations. The answer was no that the gang outside were waiting on one that had a cold and the other had a broken toe. He got the broken toe trying to kick his wife but that is another pet peeve. So unless you are needed to sign paperwork stay at home and let the relative with the patient appraise you of Joe Blow's condition. I wonder what Miss Manners would have to say about that? Anyway most people conduct their business without consulting Miss Manners. Jerry Clower that great comedian and humanitarian said Miss Manners was not paying for his daughter's wedding and therefore Miss Manners would not be consulting him. But I do believe in etiquette especially in many things. I doubt if they will appreciate any effort made by Americans but still one can pray for those people killed Christmas Day. Especially the children so if sending money be your thing do it. It could have been our country. There is only one thing that is that I would hope it flushed out Osama Bin Laden but pray I will. I think that is politically and morally correct. Not that I care for politically correct papers which line my politically correct birdcage. ------------ About the author Judy T.
