Dec. 28, 2004 Mother Nature has struck again, this time in the eastern part of the world. As a combination of earthquake and tsunami shook and swept through Sri Lanka, Indonesia and India a great loss of life also took the rest of the globe by surprise. In all, approximately ten surrounding nations suffered the effects of these disasters, with most of the damage being done in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and India. According to a recent news report on google news, an earthquake that measured 9.0 on the Richter scale shattered the lives of twelve thousand Sri Lankans, almost five thousand Indonesians and four thousand Indians and the count is rising as more bodies are found, in one of the biggest natural disasters of our time. . As we look forward to another year’s end, with parties and festive occasions on the horizon, let us not forget those who have lost loved ones to this catastrophe. For it is we who have a safe and warm place to rest our heads who should consider rendering aid to those in their time of need. For kindness rendered is kindness returned. If you are unable to aid materially or in a financial capacity, just a considerate thought or word will do as you go about your business of the day, for survivors of the victims will remember it following the aftermath of the catastrophe as they become able to carry on with their own lives once more. Lives that have been disrupted and thrown into a state of chaos with a wave of destroyed homes and businesses. For what these victims have taken a lifetime to build were brought to ruin in a matter of seconds. Seconds that turned into minutes as water and quick movements of the earth rocked those nations with tremendous force. Now they have to rebuild, reconstruct and start over which ever way they can. And the more support they receive, the stronger they will become. And giving strength to others will make us stronger too. ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
