Dec. 27, 2004 Sometimes technologically advanced gadgets can come to our aid when we really need an exit from say an argument in which you would rather not want to be a participant. For instance, let's say your mate/spouse is determined to have an argument with you about some recent occurrence or event, when suddenly his/her cell phone starts ringing, much to your joy, especially if you were seeking a way to leave the heated discussion. So as he/she becomes preoccupied with the caller, you slowly begin your exit from the room or tense atmosphere. When your loved one has completed his/her conversation with said caller, only if they are still persistent enough to want to carry on the argument they started before the cellular device alerted them for a response, they will do so. For I have noticed that most people in this type of situation would not want to continue an argument anyway. Some have even forgotten what it was they were so angry about in the first place. I happen to like the portable communicating device for its convenience and now for being the ultimate argument breaker. For when it rings, you may not want the caller to know that you and your loved one were involved in a heated exchange of words and as a result, the discussion comes to a halt.
