Dec. 24, 2004 “Globalization!” How many times have we heard that word? How many times have phrases using the words “Globalization, Globalize or Global” been used to describe our economic “outlook, plan or future?” I’m retired. During my day I watch a good supply of news programs. I’d guess I hear at least three references to the above on any given day. The word “Globalize” has a straightforward meaning: “globalized, globalizing, globalizes. To make global or worldwide in scope or application. glob'aliza'tion n. glob'aliz'er n.” Reduced to its simplest terms the Charter of the United Nations could be described by the last definer in the above: “Globalizer.” As stated in Part-1 of this article the U.N. has never lived up to or truly pursued the goal for which it was originally founded. That goal, put very simply, was world peace through respect for each Nation’s sovereignty. Disputes involving borders, trade and economic issues were to be brought before the world body. There each Nation was equal, one Nation, one vote. Since the founding of this noble enterprise we have watched millions die all over the world in war after war, conflict after conflict. While those millions have been dying, the United Nations has grown rich. Because of the U.N.’s “Humanitarian Wealth” its influence has increased. Because of enhanced influence, the U.N.’s power has grown exponentially. Since the fall of the U.S.S.R. the United States is viewed as the “rogue” Nation of the world. Why? Because its wealth, influence and power rival that of the U.N. Beginning in the latter part of the eighties and throughout the nineties, so- called “intellectuals” in the United States began to sell the “United Nations Package.” “The United Nations Package” goes something like this: The United Nations has made it possible to establish a “Global Community.” The United States can no longer remain an “isolationist.” The United States must embrace diversity in order to grow. MOST U.S. JOBS GO BEGGING BECAUSE AMERICANS DON’T WANT TO DO “THAT KIND OF LABOR.” Does the phraseology have a familiar ring to it? The United States must join the “Global Community” by participation in the European Union,(formally known as The Common Market). The United States must open its borders to those less fortunate. America is after all a Nation of Immigrants. To celebrate our diverse culture we must respect the culture of our immigrants. One method of achieving this respect is to show respect for the immigrant’s language, their beliefs, their customs. If we find ourselves subrogating traditions we’ve held dear for many years, that’s just a necessary step toward joining the movement of “Globalization.” Our dues, so to speak, to foin the “Global Community.” How can these intellectual thinkers sell the public in masse on this theory of a “Global Community?” How can a few sell the idea of subrogation of freedom to the many? I did a little research and dug though the “Socialists Handbook of Manipulation and Control.”* First gradually take control of the mass media. Newspapers, Television, Radio and Entertainment in all its aspects. A “Big Lie” if big enough, and told often enough by more than one disseminator of information, will be believed. Second, destroy or demean religious belief of any kind. Create confusion and animosity between different religious groups and pit one against the other. Third, slowly gain control of public education. Control the curriculum, teaching “Global Concepts” from an early age. Encourage low expectations, find justifiable reasons for failure. Teach “Global Mentality” as opposed to Nationalistic ideals. Live and teach the creed of diversity as the answer to world peace, security and the well-being of all peoples rich and poor. Lastly, create chaos and misunderstanding by fostering a disruption of verbal communications among the general population. Discourage any form of national language format. Those ascending to the reins of power in the United Nations will select other intellectuals of “finest mind” to administer our population. The power structure of the U.N. will pass and enforce our laws through the World Court. It will select our belief system, if there is to be one. The first step is the election of a willing Congress and President of the United States. Until then, the United Nations will have to bide its time. Our Judicial system is almost there, upholding and promoting “diversity” at every turn. We are in the process of creating a new, modern day “Tower of Babel.” We are allowing our culture and freedom to be displaced by a “Mythical Xanadu” called “Global Community.” We’re getting close my friends. There are few things in life that are all bad or all good. Diversity is no exception. Diversity in study is good. A diverse outlook, diverse opinion, diverse ethnicities, diverse cultures, diverse religious pursuits can all be good things as we learn to be tolerant of the magic that is life. Diversity in our Union is, however, as bad as it gets. Those who immigrate to America no longer wish to be Americans. They have no desire to make America’s culture their own. They have no desire to speak the English language. They have no allegiance to America, only to what America can give them in entitlements. Therein lays the cancer that will eat our liver. I, of course, have generalized. There are many immigrants who do wish to be Americans, fully and completely. They have respected our laws and come to us openly in a legal manner. These immigrants never forget their background, but they wish to be American. They wish to learn the language and contribute to the culture. Unfortunately these immigrants are outnumbered in the thousands by those who build our “Tower of Babel.” Aesop, the Greek Philosopher and storyteller coined the phrase “United we stand, divided we fall.” Those words were so prophetic and are being ignored today--and the death of America has begun. I can certainly understand how some, taking the time to read this article, might come away saying: “Boy, this old geezer is really goofy.” Or words of a similar nature. You might be right. I may have gone off the deep end. I hope you’re right and I say that for selfish reasons. I have five children in their thirties and forties. They have twelve children between them. A few of those grandchildren of mine are old enough to be having children of their own. Before my analysis of America’s future comes true, if it should, I’ll be long gone. Those you and I leave behind will have to live with the result of our laziness, our blind stupidity. Our loved ones will suffer for our eagerness to accommodate, anything or anyone, as long as it doesn’t disrupt our little zone of comfort. One other famous Philosopher said: “A house divided against itself shall not stand.” I wonder if He, and Aesop before Him, knew something we don’t. That’s my opinion. It the only one I’m qualified to give. *A title of my own making. ------------ About the author James B. Bergstad: I've explored this planet for sixty-six years. For the most part it's been a blast.
