Dec. 23, 2004 This is one of the places where a person can get some of their deepest thoughts about life flowing through the mind. For it is here that life sometimes begins with the birth of the newborns and also a place of recovery and the ultimate departure from life; death. For the people you might see in the waiting rooms, are just as stressed as you probably are; worried about the loved one in one of the rooms down the hall. At such a time, one is better off preoccupying the mind with thoughts that all will be well when the doctor comes to you with the long awaited diagnosis. It is also a time, if the news is not favourable for the one waiting in that room reserved for the persons awaiting results not to be alone. But if you do find yourself alone, take a walk instead of sitting there fidgeting, contemplating the worst. If you are concerned that your absence will cause you to miss the doctor's appearance, then, although this might be a difficult task, try and relax. For whatever the good medical professional says, your loved one's life might be somewhat altered after the diagnosis and prognosis are in. That may come in the form of say a stricter diet, and maybe a habit or two will have to be compromised. But as you also contemplate how frustrating all these changes might be for your loved one, be glad that you are there for that someone. For some people have no one waiting for them in that waiting room; making that person's transition all the more frustrating, he/she will have to go it alone. Take care of yourself and each other and just hope for the best when you see the doctor making his entrance into the waiting room where you are. And be strong for yourself as well as your loved one. ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
