Dec. 21, 2004 Are gated communities really safe? When I say "gated-communities" I mean the kind I live in or the one for the middle-class people. Not the one with the guard and the million dollar homes. I'm talking about the one with a gate and a keypad. The keypad has a directory so you can call people but it is extremely out of date, when I say that I mean like it hasn't been updated for about a year. Also you can walk right through the sidewalk gates because they do not have keypads all you have to do is pull up the latch. So is the light-weight aluminium gate and concrete wall just for "show"?
