Tom You Got IT Wrong

By John L. Waters
Aug. 31, 2005

Tom Keyes, in your article "Atheism 101: Dear Messianics And Mystics, Come Get Your $1000!", somehow you got IT wrong.

Maybe you got IT wrong because you've been reading to or listening to a lot of confused people, New Age, Fundamentalist, or otherwise.

Anyhow, as one proclaimed messianic character, Jesus is reported to have said, "The Kingdom of God is within YOU." Tom, the person you call a mystic or messiah has found IT inside of himself or herself. Millions of such messiahs exist today on Earth.

In your article you say you have written two words on a slip of paper which you keep on your person. So what? IT has nothing to do with deciphering some code, or seeing at a distance something you have written. Furthermore, by posting such a challenge on Useless-Knowledge you really are living up to that motto! In addition, you are revealing your ignorance of this subject. The messianic character is inside of you, Tom. The messianic character isn't a secret written on some piece of paper.

There are people who are gifted in magic, like James Randi. Randi himself offers a prize of one million dollars to someone who claims to be a paranormalist and can pass HIS test. There are paranormalists to be sure, but being a paranormalist isn't being a con artist or a worker of magic tricks. Like lots of other skeptics, you've got IT wrong. Lots of people are able to access IT inside of themselves in a way that apparently you are not. You have other special talents, for which I'm sure you are grateful. Can't you just live and let live?

Tom, you can claim that Jesus was a fictional character and you can claim that Siddartha was a fictional character, but still the truth about IT remains. You have a "God" center in your brain. Certain persons have paranormal experiences that the shrinks and the other skeptics simply can't explain. Just labeling a paranormal person or event "crazy" or "impossible" is like draping a night blooming cereus in black plastic so that no one can see the cactus in bloom. Even so, the wonderful fragrance comes through. Saints come in different costumes, but even so, the fragrance of IT comes through.

Saint Francis and Meher Baba were real persons with real character. You can study their lives and see how each saint offered a new life for thousands of destitute persons whom conservative upright society totally neglected. Rather than offer a thousand dollars to some psychic, Tom, give your 1000 dollars to a similar reputable charity.
