Aug. 31, 2005 From the shores of Mississippi to at least two miles inland the hurricane we know now as Katrina, showed her wrath, moving her way up the coast. New Orleans was also devastated. Many are known missing and assumed dead. The winds blowing over one hundred and fifty miles per hour showed no mercy to anything in its path. Mississippi’s now flattened shores are just a reminder of what nature can do. Not a dry road in sight and many still being saved the looting begins. I guess when you have nothing to lose you are reduced to desperation. It is every man, women and child for themselves. Just looking around me I am reduced to tears as the clean up begins. Lots of people coming from all over the country are rummaging through the ruins with the hope of finding a survivor or two. Hope is all we have to hold on to. I can only imagine the horror of these folks when they were told that electricity wouldn’t be restored for three months. In the safer states we complain when the power is off for a few hours. I know we will rebuild because we always pull together at times of crises. This article is short but I know all of you can see there are more important things to be done. Let the work begin and god bless loved ones that were lost to Katrina. This is our Tsunami, our very own devastating natural disaster that will be used as a measuring tool for those that follow.
