Aug. 29, 2005 “11 And every priest stands daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. 15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. 19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” (Hebrews 10: 11-23) The writer of Hebrews wrote that the sacrifice of Jesus was only required one time. Here he continues to expound on the reasoning. Since the blood of bulls and goats could never be possible to take away sin; but only cover sin for the short term, it was the greater responsibility of Jesus to offer the “one sacrifice for sins for ever”. Those “sanctified” or set apart for the glory of God were “perfected for ever”. This one sacrifice reaches into eternity in its effect. The “witness” or the proof of the statement comes from God the Spirit. He is the indweller. He is the teacher and the guide into all the truth that was spoken by the Lord. God has written his laws into our hearts and minds. The written law is past as that thing that must be followed for righteousness. Now, it is a path of faith that enables the believer to keep the law naturally, by the gifts of the Spirit and the leadership of the Lord. And what of the sins of those thus perfected? The sins and “iniquities” are no longer remembered by God. There is no need to carry guilt for things forgotten by God. There is also no more need for a “sin offering”. The “blood of Jesus” enables the Christian to enter the holiest part of the presence of God with boldness that Jesus has completely secured salvation. Jesus “consecrated” the path. He is the one who has perfected forever the saints of God through his one great offering; his flesh. He is the Great High Priest “over the house of God” and it is by his blood we can “draw near with a true heart of full assurance.” We can easily “hold fast” in faith “without wavering” because we know of the faithfulness of the promise of God. This is the greatest aspect of the “New” covenant. There need not be any more blood shed for the covering of sin. All sin has been atoned for and now the only requirement of men is belief. Jesus has given men a gift that only needs acceptance to be effectual. Jesus is the only possible offering for the individual that will satisfy the True God. ------------ Email Skip: skiptoomaloo@hotmail.com Tell a friend about this site! ------------ All articles are EXCLUSIVE to Useless-Knowledge.com.
