Aug. 29, 2005 In the mid eighties, there was a certain hit single with a rapid tempo and sing along melody to match. That song was titled Walking on Sunshine by a pop group known as Katrina and The Waves. A couple of decades later who knew that there would be a Category 5 Hurricane of the same name, Katrina, interrupting the lives of many along the Louisiana coast and even the neighbouring state of Alabama. Time and time again you hear on the national or local news about a hurricane that’s threatening people and their property alike, but you stop and take closer notice when that hurricane is at a Category 5 level. For it is at this level that violent waves and strong winds combined can be most destructive. Wreaking havoc on buildings and homes you thought we safe during the non hurricane season. One could only hope that soon, just as this storm fizzles out, this will pass and the evacuees of this hurricane would be able to return to their lives and also be like the Katrina and The Waves song suggests, ‘walking on sunshine’ once again. ------------ About the author Judy Ramsook: My first book titled: "Karen's Adventure" which is about two young girls who go in search of their missing parents, is now available.
