Aug. 27, 2005 O Heavenly father, who hast fashioned the Universe and cast the worlds in their orbits, O progenitor of nations, hearken unto our prayer. Deafen not thy benign ear to the entreaties of thy children and turn not away thy gaze from their wretchedness. Correct us in our errors and illumine the path of truth, that we may tread a straight course to thy Godhead. Make us wise in our deeds and teach us the ways of mercy, that in our hour of desperation, so may we beseech thee for thy mercy. Open our hands that we may give to the needy and succor the feeble and agéd, that, in the day of our debility, thou mayest thyself open thy hand unto us. Open our eyes that we may shed tears for them that are belabored and persecuted, that in the day of our panic and anguish, thou also mayest deliver us from out the hand of our captor. Lay down for us the laws and the statutes of Heaven, that we may observe them with faith and with piety. In aftertime, we may therefore invoke thy laws in the name of justice and righteousness. Open our ears to the sufferings and the sorrows of the multitudes, guiding us as we strive to assuage and redress them. We seek not for ourselves.
