Aug. 24, 2005 Jerry Falwell is one of the most corrupt and evil "men of God" ever to disgrace the face of the earth. The Rev. Falwell has a long and undistinguished history of evil deeds and idiotic and perverse statements. We are all familiar with Falwell outing Tinky Winky and blaming 9/11 on homosexuals, pagans and feminists, but he has been making such outlandish statements for decades. When the hatemonger from Lynchburg, VA was preaching in the 1960's, he branded the Rev. Martin Luther King as a communist rabble-rouser. At that time he claimed that ministers should be saving souls for Jesus, and not be involved in politics. Of course, today the good Rev. Falwell is as much a politician as he is a preacher. He fancies himself a kingmaker, as he pressures his followers to "vote Christian", that is to say, to vote for right wing candidates. When Falwell's Liberty University faced bankruptcy a few years ago, the big fat hypocrite received millions from Sun Myung Moon, whom Falwell had previously and accurately condemned as a satanic cult leader. Falwell would have an orgy with a horde of Moonies if they made a substantial contribution to his ministry. Falwell has a platform where he can reach millions with his pernicious brand of Christianity. Thank goodness, the Internet has leveled the playing field. I can use the Information Highway to warn everyone not to be seduced by this evil prophet of hatred and intolerance. To those of you who are supporting Falwell's ministry, please reconsider how you are spending your hard-earned money. A contribution to Falwell does not translate into feeding the hungry, housing the homeless or ministering to the sick.
