Aug. 24, 2005 Pat Robertson has suddenly become news again. From a man whos political and religious influence had been waning, he is all of the sudden a top leader of the GOP and christianity. Like republilcans decide policy on the word of their preacher. But leaving all that aside we should as was he wrong? Is assasination immoral? Would America have been wrong to kill Hitler back in the 1930's rather than let him unleash world war 2? Most countries, like Venezuela, wouldn't hesitate to kill an American leader if they got the chance. I think it would make sense for us to reciprocate. Take Hugo Chavez. The man is clearly a threat. He has limited democracy, curtailed the power and freedom of the press, is an open supporter of terrorism, FARC, muslim terrorists from the middle east are all welcome with Chavez. Chavez is also an open admirer of Fidel Castro, a man who spread revolution and terror across two continents. Does killing Chavez make sense? We have an economic interest in Venezuela, which is our fifth largest source of oil. On the down side killimg Chavez would only put his marxist vice president in power and stir up ant americanism in a region that is already backsliding, in part thanks to men like Chavez. We really don't have to worry about killing Chavez, pity. Anti American tinpot dictators know they can threaten the U.S. with impunity knowing that we are not likely to strike back. Chavez can sit in Caracas for decades mouthing off and stirring up trouble, and he knows we aren't going to do anything to him. Perhaps if assasination were on the table idiots like Chavez would shut up and get out of the way. It's worth thinking about. ------------ About the author: Craig Chamberlain has written more than 100 articles for Useless-Knowledge.com.
