The Horrible Win-Fixer And Inbox.com

By Sher Zieve
Aug. 23, 2005

Is anyone out there as furious as I am with both of these pop-up advertisers? Win-Fixer refuses to take “No” for an answer and when one tries to get rid of it (after it has appeared over and over again in succession). It even attempts to download itself into your PC; after you’ve refused it. AARGH!!! I will NEVER buy any product from these people! Then yesterday, a new kid in town called “Inbox.com”, racked up 13 Ads, faster then my fingers can move, before I could begin deleting them. Even after I’ve gone off-line, these Ads still continue to pop-up. They’ve figured out a way to do this too! These two even knock you off line (at least me) if you try to delete them. How dare we not buy their products!

I’m all for advertisers. They help to sell things and make our economy run. But, the way these and others of the “new pop-up” generation of ads are going, they DEMAND that you buy their product or they will hit you over and over again; even going so far (as does Win-Fixer) as to force their downloads on you. There must be some way to stop these more intrusive advertisers. And until they have completed presenting their Ads, there’s no way to conduct any other business on the net. If anyone has any ideas, send me an email. Maybe we can start a grassroots movement to get rid of them—or at least provide an incentive for them to change their practices.
