Aug. 21, 2005 Since May 30, 2005 FOX News has been riding the Natalee Holloway bandwagon to ratings success. FOX has been pimping Natalee to its discriminating viewers in a startling display of journalistic excess. Greta Van Susteren in particular, has thrown objectivity out the window, and become a cheerleader and advocate for Beth Twitty Holloway. MSNBC and CNN are not far behind, they have also been devoting a large portion of their programming to all things Holloway. FOX News uses video of Natalee Holloway in almost a pornographic fashion, just in case the talking heads might be driving away viewers, FOX runs video of Natalee in her cheerleader outfit or in her skimpy shorts every few moments. Those individuals who write to me, praising FOX for keeping alive the Natalee Holloway story, don't seem to realize that FOX is pimping her image to sell beer and laundry detergent. Fortunately, not all cable personalities have been infected with Hollowayitis, Bob Costas is immune to this perfidious disease. Costas, hired by CNN as a guest host on "Larry King Live," refused to anchor a recent show because it was primarily about Natalee Holloway. Another less honorable news personality filled in at the last minute. I applaud Bob Costas for refusing to be a part of the Holloway media circus.
