Aug. 12, 2005 The Gwen Stefani hit has a catchy tempo and infectious sound that can make anyone want to get up and dance, and to any listener, the song sounds all right until you get to the part where she spells out the word bananas. That is where the song might take a downward turn for some listeners who think that part of the musical number sounds a bit immature. And as people listen to the song, some probably wonder why that part was included. But no matter how many times you listen to the Hollaback Girl song, you wonder if it were included because of the fun factor. You know, like you’re driving along with young ones in the car who like the song and since they start singing along to the bananas part, so do you. Or maybe it was one of those good ideas that seemed good at the time of the recording. Or maybe, what was really meant in staying with the context and message the song delivers, is this is nonsense, because she ‘ain’t no hollaback girl.’ And to keep up with the young listeners in our midst, this is nonsense turned into ‘this is bananas.’ On a personal note, Gwen Stefani’s songs are catchy and fun to listen to, moreso when she teams up with Eve to do musical numbers such as ‘Rich Girl’ and ‘Let Me Blow Your Mind.' A couple of songs that will make any listener want to get up and bust a move or two on the dance floor.
