Aug. 2, 2005 It seems to me that we care about the wrong things in our lives. We tend to spend our lives focusing on the silliest things and not enough of the issues we need to. A friend of mine was telling me all about global warming. I listened to all he had to say. Wow the planet is getting warmer. I for one welcome the warmness. I get tired of freezing my face off every winter. What is so bad about warmth? I know a lot of people have a fear of change but change is good if given a chance. If it weren't for change we would be still living in cavemen times which by the way most men are. Ooh, that is a zinger if I ever written one. Focusing on the theme at hand, I will give you a few more examples of weird things we focus on or rather worry about. We go swimming to feel the delicious wetness cooling off our bodies from the summer heat. Now the rain comes and we head for the hills. Folks, we are in the water so the rain is just more water. Why do we run if we are wet anyway? I like to compare this to the person weighing in at five hundred pounds. They always get the buffet or the foot long sandwich and almost always order the diet cola as if that would take the million calories out of there systems. A vegetarian friend of mine asked me why eight hot dogs come in a package but twelve buns are the standard. I asked him why he cared about this if he didn't eat meat. I added that if he must know that was called good business practices. I told him that the extra buns forced the public to go out and buy more hotdogs and so on and so forth. My next concern is with the celebrities. Why do we care so much who is breaking up? Why do we care who is getting together and why do we care what others are doing in there lives? I heard on the news the other day that they are banning smoking in cars in New Jersey. Folks now this is an issue we must be concerned with. This is not about smoking. They are saying this is a distraction. I say it is one more step closer to banning talking, singing and thinking while you drive. I can give two rats butts about smokers but the more I think about it the more it gets under my skin. Smokers pay over a billion dollars in taxes in that state. If you ask me they should have a say where and when they can smoke. My final thought is this. What is the massive focus on trivia in this country? They are remaking old television shows into movies faster then we can blink an eye. They remade “Leave it to Beaver” and shows like that. The movies do not resemble the shows as we know them so why not just call them something else? Let's worry more about our own lives and less about others. If we do this then the world would be better off. Stop trying to find the greener grass on the other side and try watering your own lawn for a change. Let's not dwell on the past and work on the future. Yesterday is gone forever my friends and now is all we have. Let's stop focusing on the superstar's lives and try asking what is great in your son or daughters life. Stop and smell the coffee. It may wake you up. That reminds me. Sugar is good for you and now it isn't. Coffee is good for you and now it isn't. Who do we trust anymore? I eat what I have been eating for many years now. When some scientists tell me eggs are not good for me I just know five years from now they will wake up with egg on there faces. We are not sheep we are Devo.
