Aug. 1, 2005 Congressmen Curt Weldon's new book is a must read for anyone interested in the war on terrorism. For those not interested in the war on terrorism they should read the book anyway maybe it will open their eyes. "Countdown To Terror" contains information from a source called "Ali" a former official in the government of the shah that was overthrown by the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Ali gives information that, sadly, the CIA or anyone else in the intelligence community, wants to hear. Ali's information is accurate, often eerily so. He predicted the rise of Muqtada al-Sadr a year before he began his uprising. He give a detailed location for Usama Bin Laden, who is said to be hiding in Iran with full support of the mullahs, while we search the tribal areas of Pakistan. Ali warns of a massive terrorist attack to come, called the 12th Imam attack. In Shiite theology the 12th Imam is a messianic figure who's return begins the end of the world in which all the infidels will be killed. According to the book the attack was put on hold, as it was scheduled for 2004, but the Iranians didn't want to Americans to rally around George W. Bush. The book also reveals, interestingly enough, the Iranian belief that it is the first President Bush that is really calling the shots, and the Iranian plans to have him killed. Yet the CIA took no action on the information. While it is true that not all of his information has come true, yet he has provided detailed information about Iran and the governments plans for nuclear weapons, meddling in Iraq and Afghanistan. This book is not just a warning it is also an idictment against our intelligence services that have shown over and over again that they are incompetent or they simply refuse to act on information in the hopes of hurting the Bush administration. Congressman Weldon's book shows that Iran is THE major force in terrorism and we are still weighing our options.
