Apr. 30, 2005 This has been an extremely interesting day in news to me. I was bombarded for almost the entire time of watching the television with the story of Jennifer Wilbanks, a.k.a. “Deer Caught in Headlights”. I was absolutely riveted. Not by the story, as much as the attention given it. I just could not believe what I was seeing and hearing. All major news networks were giving non-stop updates to this utterly stupid story of one of thousands who receive “cold feet“ on their wedding day. Granted this woman took wedding day jitters to the extreme, I did not see the reason behind the media saturation with this story. Jennifer Wilbanks, a.k.a. Deer Caught in Headlights, is a stark raving mad, lunatic nutball and the media is trying to cover for her as if she were a five-year old girl who was simply scared to go on stage in a school play. The reason that I was so riveted to the newscasts is because I am becoming more curious as to how stupid some people have evolved. I now wonder for what the extra brain capacity that some humans have is used. I am inclined to believe that in general society, this extra amount of gray matter largely goes unused. Therefore, the humans that do not use the extra gray matter that nature has provided them, might as well have the small noggin and brain that the lower primates have. This then, extra small head would save the unthinking humans cardiovascular system much needed energy that could better be put to use running, jumping, and swinging through the trees. Those who use their brains would then also be able to tell right away on sight, those who were using their brain and those who were not. Seriously of course, this is not the case. We have for our size, a very large brain and it should be used. Nature has blessed us in a special way, to be able to think for ourselves… if we want to. I also was fascinated by how the media would like to continue to sway the public with its asinine views. The general idea that I am receiving from the media is that I am to believe that this woman simply made an impulsive mistake, but now the poor little thing is back at home, safe and sound in her beddy-bye, listening to songs such as, “Barney Loves Me“. The reason that I gave Jennifer the a.k.a., “Deer Caught in Headlights” is because that is what she resembles in every photo that is flashed on television. That is the look of a crazy person. I imagine that she is the silly type of woman that has frequent crying spells, and is intimately cold and distant. She most likely is the type that drives a huge SUV darting back and forth, to and fro as if in a frenzy to such places as the manicurist, the local boutique and her psychiatrist; with an ever-present cellphone pressed to her ear. This is all accomplished while her dull husband-to-be works his butt off in a futile attempt in making her happy. The problem is this type of woman can never be happy. She is a classic narcissistic psychopath. Simply said, she is only concerned with her world and what happens to her. She is cold and incapable of love and thinking of others. Even though the media would like us to think that she is a misguided little angel that just did not want to be saddled with the baggage of a loving (but dull) husband, I can see through the hype. I wonder how the media would portray a similar but opposite situation where the one with cold feet was a man. He would be everything that is evil I am sure. However, if the media has its way, Jennifer Wilbanks, a.k.a. Dear Caught in Headlights, will possibly be shoehorned into the status of a hero(ine) along with Jessica Lynch, the former prisoner of war, and Ashley Smith, the hostage of the Atlanta shooting spree. I would not say that it is too far fetched in thought that, Deer Caught in Headlights may appear on the Oprah Winfrey show, to a standing ovation, because of her “courage and bravery” in spite of the pressures that mean ole’ almost husband, John Mason bestowed upon her. Maybe there will even be a book deal, and then…a movie. The stupidity of the media and what they want us to believe is completely breathtaking. I have news for them though. The world was not left on pins and needles awaiting the outcome of what this mentally challenged woman had up her sleeve next. To saturate the news in such a way for such an idiotic story is unbelievable. It is as if there is no other news in the world occurring except that of a scared deer which was caught in the headlights of an oncoming car, then hopped a motorbus to Las Vegas, finally surfacing at a 7-11 store three days later, still wearing a jogging outfit that it was last seen in, and after cutting its own hair…come to think of it, THAT would be a story. I think that this woman should be tested for mental illness and if it is found that she is more than simply a narcissistic psychopath, which many in this society are, she should be treated immediately, before she ever becomes pregnant. There is no telling what a child would have to suffer at the hands of such a mentally ill person. If she is not mentally ill, but just a selfish, attention wanting psychopath, she should be charged and prosecuted. A prosecution and conviction would be a message to all of the sick, attention-craving dummies in this society that continually waste the resources of the already severely taxed men and women in law enforcement for their own gratification. This does not even mention what this ill woman put her family and potential husband through. Jennifer Wilbanks should be ashamed of herself, but unfortunately, the apparent mental condition of this woman is such that she cannot be. ------------ About the author Brian Edward Scott Sr.: I like to write about issues that I feel are questionable in the least, or just downright stupid.
