Apr. 29, 2005 One of my favorie Hary Larson cartoons must be this one of of two bears in the woods apparently cuaght in the cross hairs of a hunters rifle, apparently because one of the bears is seen to be grinning insidiously whlie his hand is raised behind his friend's back pointing vigorously -message "shoot him not me". Isee a macabre analogy with the relationship between the United States and Great britain and funnier still when I picture Tony and Bush standing together in the wilderness of 9/11 and blair wildly doing the 'shoot him not me' thing. Tall and skinny was always gettin his geograhy wrong if you ask me though his acolytes may and probably will argue that the guy is Java -Script complaint and could beat any western teenager on Play Station any good day, but the fact remains that if any Third World crazy or looney or Arab were to suddenly feel an urge to go jumbo jet crashing .....Iwould think Great Britain would [should ??] be a more a likely target than the US. Am talking about the point that a lousy island with a lousy weather batb one 'ruled' the world as we know it.....an Empire folks, an Empire! So one day the Empire folded up and the conquerersof the world withdrew albiet begrudgingly to that spit of land withan aw so awfoul weather... That, is where the problem began....for up till today wherever the British set foot there seems to be no peace. That may sound unfair, but instruments and machinations set in place by the colonialists to subdue peoples were insidiously left on auto ..remote controland which are the seeds of malcontent and brewing instability. The divide and rule tactic so well used in countries like Nigeria and most of Africa has ensured that the peoples have not known good peace since the illegal occupants packed up and left.... Other instances as in The Mandate in Palestine ,The Partition [India, Pakistan, Bangladesh..] the ship laod of convicts that landed 'Down Under' forever disrupting the lives of the indigenous peoples, The Bounty's survivors, the Irish Troubles courtesy of Cromwell and so on and so forth. I hardly think Osama Bin Laden's miff was so much that the US had desecrated hid land, people and religious values so much than the fact he was used as a pack mule by the CIA and dumped - abandoned when he could have been amking millions of dollars on date palms and camel cheese futures! The problem with america is that it's loud and has the knack of sticking her head all too much and gets wacked in the process.
