Apr. 26, 2005 So maybe the guy doesn't want to be explained [and certainly not away], so may the guy doesn't want to to understood by Zimbabweans and certainly not the West and especialy not Great Britain. Maybe rest for this former African nationalist, freedom fighter...father.... of many will come in the grave, but for now he keeps seeing and hearing demons -whiiite demons like the ones he and many others struggled against for years and who seem to be suddenly reappearing in the guise of the MDC or Tony Blairs and Condi Rices of the West or absolutely any one who seems to be siding with those demons. Now if you will let me tell you a story. Once upon a time there was a very very beautiful land and it had a king called or chief whose name was Lobengula. One day a cheat, a swindler and a con artist came and stole the very beutiful land from him................ Okay I can you reachng for the delete buttons and four letter woeds forming on your lips. So how about this version - the land was truly a beautiful land and "initially inhabited by the Shona -herders and cultivators who were later joined by the Nguniand Zulu who were in turn moving that way get this now "because of displacement as a result of white occupation in South Africa.The Matabele arrived in the 1850's.These indigenous tribes respected each other but the stability ensuing was shattered from the 1880's by capitalist imperialist system embodied locally by Cecil John Rhodes." According to S.E.Wilmer, E.S. Otieno-Odhiambo et al "To the British imperialist Cecil John Rhodes was a hero but in reality he was a speculator and a gambler ,Rhodes was simply a poor man who wanted to exploit Africa which he did through constant swindling .......to Lobengula and Africans he WAS and MUST and remain a LIAR"!!! "On the 30'th October 1880.....Ruud, a partner of Rhodes got Lobengula to sign concessions" and the terms were ...listen to this "Lobengula and his hiers were to recieve 100pounds monthly, 1000 rounds of Martini breach loading rifles with 100 rounds of ammunition for each gun" and again watch this "the Company [Rhode's]in turn got charge over all metals and minerals situated and contained in Lobengula's kingdoms, principalities and dominions ". When Lobengula realised the treachery he appealed to Queen Victoria herself but HMG went right ahead and incorporated Rhode's company, a charter was given on 22 October 1889 giving the company the right to establish itself for 25 years ...enough time to plant a white colony [Rhode's intent]. Under a Land Apportionment Act Africans were removed from productive areas to less so areas,they were moved from railways and major roads making trade and commerce difficult -this act automatically made the African farmer inferior to European farmer economically, the overall effect of the act enabled the Europeans to have economic superiority over the African farmer.Today the BBC and VOA will tell us that it is Mugabe's Land Policy[s] that are wreaking havoc in the country ......... "The seeds of African Nationalism were planted in the land the settlers seized from Africans.Without land, the African was robbed of his pride,his economic heritage, his family's rootedness in the soil of his forefathers. The taking of his land was provocative". Maybe chief Lobengula was Mugabe's graet, great, great....grand-dad and maybe not but the roots of imperialism and neo-colonialism were and have been the exploitation of one people by another and so even today onthe level of the' so called' factual daily news, the imagery of colonialism and stereotypical views of black people surface from time to time and being an African and black that fills me with such a rage .......but more than that, the fact that the western media, as a policy seemingly panders to a domestic 21st Century who would care less about the shameful past of thier forebearers. Somewhere out there, it is understandable, are /is so called' pressure groups' against Mugabe and his 'alikes'...groups who can only assemble to chilled bubbly and sturgeon's eggs to answer to a crusty board of directors or thier offspring [men whose ancestor's ideas of fun was chasing little brown foxes to death through hedges and through country lanes]. Sure these groups, individuals must have a continued reason to exist and therefore must continue to hound and harass and instigate people like Mugabe to justify thier continued funding and the so called 'opposition'in Zimbabwe is cuckolded into accepting the worn out myth that once again the white man, THE white is coming to rescue him from a fellow tyrannical, maniacal brother -Mr Morgan Tsvangari please wake and read your history books 'the sleep of reason breeds monsters'.
