Apr. 25, 2005 I was thinking that there is some proof that God exists. I was thinking that there is proof in palm trees. The palm trees are holy and singing a song of quiet knowing. They are perfect with a slight crookedness. They are a dot of divinity in an often cruel world. The palm trees stand beautiful w/ out boasting in tropical and sub-tropical brilliance. The palm trees of the world are a secret signpost designating glory and goodness and salvation from ashphalt agony and even from peculiar penchants for alliteration. There are other reasons for God. Wild dark haired women with curves and good sin on their minds. They are purveyors of Gnosis in the truest sense and through sense. These vixens adorned of autumn cotton sweaters and full of intrigue and magic can't be products of accident or some natural whim of scientific elementals. They can gaze at you with lusty fire or walk slightly above the crowded doldrum earth with a bit of real grace. I don't know them biblically but take refuge in their existence the way many Buddhists take refuge in the Dharma. Cheeseburgers and fire God created. Summer moon that witnesses your demise but loves you with a cool detatched knowing is from God, as is the man that resides in its interiority. The miracle of the hum of and vibe of the bones and blood and brains is from God. Musical notes and Cosmical notes that bring good tears are from God. God created the novel, the novella, and the sea shells and the dinner bells. Finally, love is from God but moreso God is Love. Its not always in the form we wanted or thought. But it is there. It sustains. Its more like the Tao than anything I'd suppose. Maybe God is a non-God but thats just an eastern novelty for a western one whose society did not come in his particular size, color, style, or way. But almost any Way is God's way and the love,...its a fruitcake you did not even want or have a taste for but needed and you didn't know. And the fruitcake brought you to fruition like difficult medicine. God God God God...God is a palm tree, a dark-eyed urban female living in post-post-modernity, a truck engine, a cheeseburger, a moon, a song, and so on...on and on...God God God God....God is a neon sign buzzing in the rain with a palm tree near and inside a lowdown southern motel some drink some think some wink...to God and back again while the rains rain. I was thinking that there is some proof that God exists. ------------ About the author: Brian Michael Barbeito lives in Aurora, Ontario, Canada.
