Paramount Canceled Star Trek: Enterprise

By Lee Zelhart
Apr. 22, 2005

Well, it had to happen I suppose. Paramount canceled Star Trek: Enterprise. So I'm pissed (pardon my French).

I've liked all the Star Trek shows for the most part. Way back since the original I have been a Trekker. I was about my son's age when it was on.

I watched all the Star Trek programs as often as they were on. Even staying up late sometimes. Until this last program. Paramount shafted me by taking Enterprise off all channels except UPN and Sci Fi channels.

I don't have a thing against cable channels, just the cable services. They charge too much for too little and I put an antenna up years ago. I got all the local stations out of St.Louis as well as the local PBS stations. I was happy.

Well one of those stations went WB and wouldn't carry anything WB didn't produce. That took Paramount properties, except old shows, off the air. The other station which carried Star Trek was a FOX station for awhile. It's not now, but it showed only Star Trek:Voyager.

When Paramount put Enterprise on the air they goofed big time by not tacking on the Star Trek before the title. That was their big blunder. Only when they were trying to save the show did they change it. I think heads should roll over that boner.

The decision to move Enterprise to only a choise few channels and I might say they expanded a little, but I still don't get the ones where the show was on, was also a gigantic mistake as far as I'm concerned.

Well, it's their fault and their necks on the line for this flub. Now the show has been canceled three years short of the standard seven year run. Sad! I'm sure Mr.Spock would agree Paramount's scheduling office has been totally illogical about the whole thing.

Not even a letter writing campaign ala The Great Bird of the Universe(Gene Roddenberry)can pull the fat out of the fire now. There only one good thing about this...I can probably get the entire lot on DVD. Now, where can I sign up to join a good Trekker protest group?

Only one last thing I want to say...Beam me up!
