Apr. 7, 2005 I'm not Catholic. It doesn't keep me from following the Papal situation though. I'd like to leave a little input for what it's worth. I know the betting people are looking at Italian cardinals. Some are looking at South American cardinals. Some others in Africa. There seems to be a lot of Catholic church growth were it's poor. Hmmm, wonder why? I think the Italians have locked the pope thing up for too long. I know it would be nice to have some American guy in there, but a lot of folks would cry fowl. They would say it was a set up job. The last time, of course, they though the pope would be Italian and he wasn't. It took a lot of folks off balance when they picked a Pole. I liked the little fella. I like breaking molds. I like change, sometimes. So, who would I pick? If given a chance who would I want running the game? Well, no names come to mind. Like I said, I'm not Catholic. Sorry, it was a little problem with my parents. It think the problem was genetic. Both of them were Protestant. Anyway, I think the next pope should be Irish. Yeah, I know, whoever heard of an Irish pope? Well, up to a quarter century ago whoever heard of a Polish pope? Hmmmmm! So, there's gotta be some Irish Cardinal out there. There's gotta be one worthy to lead the Roman Catholic church. The Irish, after all, have been teaching religion classes to the world for ages. I mean Ireland is the land of St.Patrick. He brought the whole island to the Christian faith and the Irish have been spreading the gospel since. Think Bing Cosby. Think Barry Fitzgerald. See what I mean?
