Apr. 6, 2005 O.K., hereeeee we go. This shall be a two-fold article. One that I think actually may link to one another. We will talk about Samantha and her article concerning seeing the inside of ones-self versus the outside. Samantha, you hit it right on the head with your article. The world has lost the rememberance that Adam and Eve were naked in the garden. They were naked because they did not see the outer self so there was no need to cover themselves. It was not until the fall that their eyes were opened and they saw their nakedness. We as a people could look at one another in a much fuller light if we too did not see our own nakedness. Children do not see another child as "fat" or "ugly" until another points it out to them. Very often times, the fact that another calls a child fat is their own way of trying to turn the attention away from their own short-comings, which may or may not truly exist. It is a protective stance that is not born into the child but is taught into the child somewhere along their path to adulthood. The bible makes no referance to ones ugliness nor their weight because it is unimportant to God or to the persons inside spirit. Throughout the bible however, referance is made concerning the spiritual insides of a person. Stating "fear not that which can destroy your body... fear that which can destroy your body and your spirit man." That is what we must recapture and teach our children. See good as good and evil as evil but do not stereotype one or the other. A man with deep wrinkles and crooked hands that talks gravely does not mean he is ugly or evil. A man that is handsome and well trimmed and speaks gently is NOT always a nice man or good man. Teach our children that if we look inside of each other, that we may find that the "ugliest" of people are the very kindest and sweetest. If we can teach them this then perhaps they won't see "fat" or Ugly" anymore. I say here, here and my hats off to you Miss Samantha. A well written article... And then there was the second half of this article. The half dedicated to Mr. Keyes. A man that in all of his writings, I have found so far nobody that he likes. man that sees only the worst in everybody and can not even give respect to a man that has passed on. I, not being a Catholic, still mourned the loss of a man that dedicated his life to a people. Wrong, right or indifferent feelings towards the church, I still recognized a man that gave of himself and lived his life for God and his people. Billy Grahmm also has given the best that he had to the people he loved and to God. He may have a few things and perhaps in Mr. Keyes eyes, the people he has brought to the Lord account for nothing. That is alright, it is his opinion and we are all entitled to that. Not to forget the offer he has so kindly made of taking someone to some mountains so he can watch them move them. The calous way of speaking amazes me and I sit and shake my head. Not at his disbelief, for that is between him and... well, I guess between him and himself since there is no God to answer to. HMMMMM???? So what is the link between these two articles? It is the bible and the writings presented to us inside it's pages. Samantha speaks briefly of the bible and it's scriptures, only relating it to where it applies to her article. Thomas also uses the bible and quotes the scriptures as if he were a bible scholar.{Funny that a man that believes so very little in the bible has such a vast knowledge of it's scriptures.} The link of course once again being the way we see each other in this world. If we look at the world through cynical eyes and see everyone as someone trying to pull the wool over anothers eyes, then of course that will be passed on to the next generation and the next... Seeing the world through eyes such as Samantha has shown does not blind us to evil-doers or people ripping off people. It merely allows the chance to see the good as well as the bad. Seeing the world through the eyes of a people that think that every one that rose above all of the cynisism and reached out and "FED" a hungry man or woman did it all for self gain... is a frightening way to live. I hope that when I die, Samantha writes my Eulogy which may read...Here lies a man that perhaps didn't reach all of the world, but did his best to touch the lives of those he came into contact with. A good man that lived a good life." It is far gentler than the one Thomas may indeed write. "Here lies a guy that I really know very little about. I didn't take the time to see what goodness or smiles he may have brought into the world with him. I didn't take the time to see what he sacrificed to help his fellow man. He died with $10,000.00 in a bank account so i assume he squandered it or lived the life of Riley instead of eating Bread crumbs. Hell... He couldn't even move a little mountain. Just as the young child who no longer wanted the BIG muscles because his mothers love was strong enough for him, So can words of constant discouragement destroy the generations that are to be our leaders one day... ------------ About the author: Darrel Day is the author of Abduction, available in stores everywhere and through publishamerica.com, amazonbooks.com, barnes and noble books and Books A Million.
