Beth And Joran: An Update

By Meri Ulrich
Sept. 22, 2010

Beth Twitty did in fact enter Miquel Castro Castro prison and she did in fact come face to face with Joran van der Sloot. How she got in is still a mystery but what transpired after she entered the prison is not.

Beth demanded to see the Director of the prison and asked that she be allowed to meet face to face with Joran. Joran was than brought to meet with Beth. Beth supposedly told Joran that if he told her the truth of what happened to Natalee she would help him with his current case and that she held no ill will toward him. Joran told Beth that he couldn't speak because his lawyer was not present and handed her a business card to contact his attorney. This much has been verified by both Joran's lawyer and Beth's representative.

Sadly, I was right about Peter R. De Vries involvement. He and Beth are producing and filming a documentary that will be shown to the public soon and they are doing so in Peru. This bothers me the most about Beth's role in this whole process. First, I still maintain that Beth is desperate to find the truth and her main motivation was to do so. I know that Beth will never stop trying and that it is probably one of her purposes in life. I don't blame her. But, Beth did take matters into her own hands and she may have caused the prosecutors who are going to try the extortion case and those who will present evidence in the Peruvian murder of Stephaney Flores problems as a result of her bold and risky move. I am also disturbed about Beth's involvement in this so-called documentary and her partnership with Peter De Vries.

Beth is not a reporter and until this recent information emerged she was not a producer of documentary films. If this is just about Natalee than perhaps the documentary is a good idea. If this is the start of a new career for Beth than I'm not so sure that it's a wise move on her part.

Many, many facts have not unfolded yet in this sad, sad story and I am hoping that Beth will move forward with more caution than she has displayed with her trip to Peru and confrontation with Joran.

It appears that Beth is not under arrest but unclear as to exactly how she got into the prison. It appears that she had permission so I'm relieved that she didn't break any laws or find herself in real trouble in this foreign country where American rules of law don't apply.

I hope that Beth can someday find the truth and that she does so in a way that will not harm her any more than she has already been harmed.
