June 29, 2010 Another G8 conference has come and gone. The Toronto one was not so bad considering those previous. In Japan the death of a policeman occurred, in Italy massive damage to private property. Here in Toronto we suffered some smashed windows and four police cars burned. I have been trying to get a picture of the hard core as opposed to the usual useful idiots who were behind this periodic outburst. Obviously they have an agenda. I here of vague demands for social change but nothing specific and their spokes persons seem to be very nebulous, an exact person hard to pin down. So far I have only been able to identify Bono as a possible spokesman. He recently came out with a statement that the Canadian prime minister has been moving in the right direction regarding the suffering in Africa but not far enough. I suppose he was speaking of the agreement to allocate 1billion or so to aid organizations in Africa in order to safe guard the health of expectant mothers, presumably his point being that now he has to concentrate on abortion issue and I suppose gay rights in Africa. Bono states that the world wide condemnation of the capitalist system is finally hitting home pushing western governments to be more amenable to the views of the media progressives. I still am trouble visualizing who these creeps are who periodically pull these childish tantrums. My guess is that they are the spoilt kids of rich parents who have never had to work a day in their lives using the excuse of western complicity in every thing wrong in the world as an excuse to raise a little hell. I would say that the average person who engages is fairly affluent, in his twenties and smarter than the rioters of past generations. Just looking around the streets of Toronto it was possible to observe a few of these types by their shifty demeanour as they moved stood at transit points and the way they avoided speech as much as possible as their accents had not yet acquired a Canadian inflexion. What I wonder do they do when not rioting. The internet comes to mind, after they must somehow make enough to be able to travel. I don t know the number of phishing and pharging attempt made during the last few days only that some such nut has sent me an email directing me to a false pay pal site informing me that I have forwarded $187 to Best Buy for the purchase of an I-pod. Hackers and rioters must have a lot in common. Maybe they are interconnected, all part of the great underworld internet community who have cashed in on the anonymity of the webs.
Personally hackers bug me more than rioters as ever since childhood I have refrained from going out while the riots are on. Those who go to gawk amaze me. In the places I grew up they wouldn’t get away with it, but then I am talking of times past when the authorities were not so concerned with the rights of those who go to riots for entertainment. The only damage the riots have caused me personally is the loss of the four police cruisers which of course are going to be taken out of my taxes. It’s the guys who have been trying to get into my pay pal account who bug me as I am probably going to get a notice that my account is frozen as there has been an attempt to illegally access it which will lead to phone calls and a lot of inconvenience. Hope they throw the book at those rioters who got caught (and any hacker for that matter).
