Personalities Pushing Diet Pills [Jillian Michaels And The Biggest Loser]

By Julia Sherman
Feb. 20, 2010

...the same as practicing medicine without a license.

There it is folks, the biggest shill show in the world and 90 percent of people want to pay their ticket price and take a look.

The show is called weight loss and the makers of all sorts of chemical combinations are no different than PT Barnum saying this way to the great egress.

We live in a country that touts super size me, fast meals, high fat meals and diet pills before you eat those meals with a diet coke. INSANE is the game and personalities like those being sued are the ones pocketing that ill gotten gains.

The lawsuits keep piling up against diet pills that promise results, just taken before meals. Diet pills that guarantee weight loss by ingesting a tapeworm, diets that take more money than your average shopper pays in a month and for what. To head your self into that loop of what is new and promising. And duped into purchasing them.

Foods that come pre-packaged and taste like well the packaging, foods that speed up metabolism, only to have the people land in the hospital with angina, high blood pressure and liver disease.

And for what so you can fit into a smaller size clothes because that is what we want to see. And not look in the mirror to see that we are not skinny anorexic nyets that flinch at the thought of a drop of Gatorade to keep their cardiac systems functioning.

If you label it with a television stars picture people will buy it. It is a multi billion-dollar business that only serves to pad the pockets of those who endorse the products.

Today, and good for the woman who is suing, is taking Jillian Michaels to court against the diet pills that tout weight loss.

Now aside from the fact that you will not look like Jillian, it makes me wonder if the Biggest loser TV show is nothing more than a hype for insanity and are those people taking herbal supplements the ones who are becoming dramatically ill? Is the Biggest Loser a cheat of a show and nothing more than a pill-pushing venue? Are these people putting their health at risk. I think so I am a firm believer that if you are worth your salt and you stick buy what you say and do, why push a drug that contains ingredients that are known to cause serious side effects? Yes these have to be considered drugs. Because they have serious side effects, they do alter or change certain medication efficacy. They get away with them because they use natural herbals. But is long known that natural herbals, such as MauHuang cause elevated blood pressure. Ginko is really toxic. Caffeine is a drug known to raise blood pressure. To make matters even worse certain anti-cholesterol medications cannot be taken with extracts of grapefruits or even grapefruit juice. Some ingredients can cause migraines, exacerbate RLS, even in tiny quantities. And these companies combine them and personalities tout them. BAD medicine people.

The ingredients in her weight loss formula can cause serious side effects. Caffeine, guarana etc can all cause kidney blow out, high blood pressure, liver lesions, IBS, gallstone aggravation, interfere with certain anti diabetics and oral diabetic medications, anti cholesterol medication, anti arthritic medications, MAOI inhibitors, anti depressive etc.

And it is not just hers. It is almost all of the diet pills that have serious side effects.

And targeting the morbidly obese, obese and seriously overweight is just plain wrong. It is banking on a population that is looking for help and they are throwing a life preserver that has a hole in it.

Save for a few diet product companies that are rational, do not interfere with medications, help, really do work, slowly and easily and without complications, and are readily available to the average persons wallet are few and far between. But their long established success is applaudable.

It is time for Personalities should be stand up people and not endorse a product that has dangers associated with it, just to pad their pockets and make a name for themselves.

In this case personalities that tout prescribing, recommending and endorsing a product or preparation that has false promises is nothing more than quackery and they are practicing medicine without a license.
