Migrations

By Brian Michael Barbeito
Feb. 13, 2010

For the cold the sky would break if it could. Icy heights and long from the turning road could be seem a series of lights coming and coming quietly along, some electrical life rising up still against the impossibly fierce environment. The greatest challenge of the sun was to survive at all, to raise its self clouded in the sky amidst this. Then a group of dull birds came squawking overhead, travelling miles and miles, and they stopped in their own way, which was a turning. Round and round they went, a few hundred of them, and it couldn’t be told what for. Suddenly a new group came from the south and it was apparent that the first group had been waiting and were not so dull after all. Still the world seemed to want to crack and there was an odd sparkle in the air, in the dark and violently still air, erupting onto and into itself in a curious unknown movement that was at once definite and indifferent. Lights and lights came around the corner, travelling in pairs- hundreds of them, migrating to the south while the flocks continued to gather and head north.
