Aug. 19, 2010 Many years ago, a Justice of the Supreme Court held that the Constitution’s guarantee of the right of free speech does not confer the right to yell “Fire!” in a crowded theatre. Perhaps it is now time for an activist judge to rule that the Constitution’s guarantee of freedom of religion does not confer the right to build a trophy mosque within sight of the place where Islam won a major victory in its war against America. That’s right, a trophy mosque; an in-your-face reminder that Muslims in America and around the world have no duty to pay heed to the sensitivities of infidels. In fact, they intend to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their victory by building a “religious” edifice near the spot where Muslim actions caused thousands of innocent people to burn, to be crushed to death, to die gasping for air or screaming as they fell a thousand feet to the pavement. But, of course, it is necessary to not only bow to any and all Muslim demands but to also lend support whatever their efforts and designs, even when those designs amount to psychological warfare.. Don’t believe me? Ask the President of the United States. Ask the mayor of New York City. Neither could have acted more quickly to become enablers and abettors. Of course, other politicians in New York were also quick to signal their approval and one may ask “Why?” The answer is simple: money. This mosque, this monument that is a “bridge to interfaith understanding” (and into which I, for one, would not dare carry a King James Bible) is budgeted at 100 million dollars. That is a lot of large, loose change. And who gets the money? Why, the constituents of those politicians who voted to appease the Iman and clear the way for the mosque to be built: construction companies; electrical and plumbing contractors, painters, suppliers of all sorts of building materials… The list of brothers-in-law and friends-of-friends is long. As money trickles down to them, some little portion is almost certain to wind up in the pockets of the politicians. Hey! It’s the way Americans do business! But it won’t happen that way. The Muslim Surprise Does anyone really think the people behind this mosque will allow it to be built by infidels? (Obviously, those politicians think so – that’s why they’ll be the most surprised.) I don’t know how many Muslim-owned contractors and sub-contractors do business in New York. If there are not enough, expect them to flow in from all over the New England states and from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. And this poses a unique problem. For years, in song and story, we’ve been told the Mob controls construction in New York. And I frankly doubt any Muslims belong to the Mob. So what happens? Will the godfathers send emissaries to the imams, making them offers that can’t be refused? Will veiled threats of cement boots be trumped by threats of beheadings? Can we expect a Chicago-style gang war between Islam and the Cosa Nostra? Will the mosque become the flashpoint for war as the very planning of it has already become a flashpoint for emotions? But there may be a better, more peaceful way. The Brooklyn Factor I have a soft spot in my heart for Brooklynites. I’m sure it comes from watching old WWII movies in which the cynical soldier, sailor, marine from Brooklyn at last became a part of the team and leaped into heroism. It can still happen. Now, I can’t suggest sabotage. And if sabotage happens, I won’t condone it. But something has occurred to me: suppose some infidels from Brooklyn (or Yonkers: guys from Yonkers were always good, too) are hired for some of the more menial tasks involved in building the mosque? And suppose some of these guys brought fried pork rinds in their lunch and contrived to crush them and mix them into the cement and mortar? And what if they confessed their crime during the grand opening ceremonies? Or what if they did nothing and confessed to it anyway?
You wanna talk psychological warfare? I got your psychological warfare right here!
