Apr. 23, 2010 Sarah Palin made an appearance in Hamilton Ontario the other day. Hamiliton is a blue collar medium sized city on a plane with Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Detroit and numerous other rust belt cities. She did not visit Toronto which of course is completely outside of her sphere, its citizen’s staunch liberals who maybe would have presented a security problem as in fact happened in Ottawa where her trip was canceled at the last minute due to not only security concerns but also legal issues. It seems that the university where she was to give her presentation was worried she would contravene Canadian law regarding hate speech or some such mumbo jumbo. Personally I think it was just another case of juvenile ignorance loathe to tolerate any opinion at divergence with their own. Not being an American I am curious as to why she generates such hateful rhetoric among liberals. She is accused of being unsophisticated as she failed to list for a reporter the publications she subscribes to by answering that she reads everything. I suppose I would fit into the same category as I too read everything. We have in this city a newspaper of what I would consider an extreme left wing perspective available free every morning in MacDonalds. Most of the stuff now just runs off my back along with a host of similar publications the opinions, the left leaning slant so obvious as to be ridiculous. However if one wants to keep abreast of the liberal slide into fantasy now bordering upon insanity they are necessary reading which brings me back to Sarah Palin. Today I viewed a picture of her in the local free paper. Her complexion is so clear. Her face does not have that bitter look of one having had her unborn child torn from the womb in order to satisfy social convention. Neither did it suggest a mind ravaged by the effects of drugs now or during her formative years. Could it be that the media is playing its game of lets gang up on a conservative because of this. I have reached the stage where when I see this occur I become interested in the one being ganged up on. I don’t know a lot about Palin but now, thanks to the efforts of the various student bodies and the media, I feel that I must have a look at her works and her agenda.
I kind of like Palin. She reminds me of the generation that came before my own, the WWII generation. They were practical people unaffected by popular culture knowing that they lived in a life or death situation and so concentrated upon the practical. She too is unaffected by the popular culture and concentrates upon the practical so I suppose the vanguards of the popular culture, the media, have taken it upon themselves to attack her in any way possible. The attacks fail making them, the media and those who subscribe to it look only more ridiculous than they already do.
