Why? Because I fear that a right-wing extremist wolf in sheep's clothing will emerge in the backlash against him.

This slick talker will seduce millions of gullible conservative Americans with glittering speeches about "Taking America back", making America a "Christian" nation again, restoring "freedom" to America, bringing "honor and honesty" back to the presidency, making government smaller, reducing taxes, "getting the government off our backs", restoring "decency" to films and television, getting rid of illegal aliens, standing up to the gay "agenda", "protecting" marriage between a man and a woman, "protecting" the unborn, making abortion illegal, "respecting" the constitution, fighting crime by making it easier for convicted murderers to be executed, and increasing the number of crimes which merit the death penalty, "protecting" Christianity and Christians, restoring prayer to our public schools, having creationism taught there as scientific fact, and all that nonsense.

As well as denying that the world has serious problems with the environment, and promising to deregulate business as much as possible and more tax breaks for the wealthy. This candidate will also promise to end welfare, government help to those in need, etc.

But if you think that there is a conspiracy now to take away our freedom and turn the government into a tyranny, you haven't seen anything yet.

If this individual, who will no doubt have close ties to the religious right, gets power, it won't be pretty. Abortion will be illegal again, as well as contraception. A black market in contraceptives will emerge, and many women will die of botched illegal abortions, or be seriously and permanently hurt.

Yet poor pregnant women won't get any help for those poor unwanted children, because that's socialism, and we don't want that here, do we?

Homosexual marriage will not only be declared illegal, but gay people will be fired from their jobs or denied employment, and possibly imprisoned, or even executed. Out of work people,and those born into poverty will be on their own. The government will arbitrarily censor and ban any book,magazine, film,television program or whatever it considers "indecent" and "obscene".

Even Playboy magazine and mildly titillating sex comedies will be illegal. We will be the very thing that the founding fathers in their wisdom were desperate to avoid. A fascist totalitarian theocracy no better than communist dictatorships. And the very thing which so many have come to America to escape over the years. Ironic isn't it?

The new President will not be sworn in by swearing on the Bible to uphold the constitution, but swearing on the constitution to uphold the Bible!
