Sept. 4, 2009 Michael Jackson was notoriously late for everything and his funeral was no exception. It started almost an hour after it was scheduled to begin and we were at the mercy of a live feed provided to the public by the Jackson Family. They cut the feed right before the casket was carried in. Lisa Marie Presley, Liz Taylor, McCauley Culkin, Barry Bonds, Chris Tucker and many other luminaries of the entertainment, sports, and music industry were in attendance. I wonder how many of them Michael would have personally invited if he had written the guest list. Debbie Rowe (who was invited) and Diana Ross did not show up. The famous mausoleum where he was interred houses such stars as Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole and many, many others. It is a fitting resting place for yet another iconic figure of the past and present. It appeared to be a fairly dignified and serene ceremony from what the reporters on the ground reported and for that I am glad for his children. Paris looked very sad and small and rather lost and Michael's mother looked her age despite the brown wig without any hint of gray. Prince, his eldest son seemed restless and I noticed that he walked like his father, Michael. There was the distinct step of a potential dancer in his movements. Little Blanket looked more like Miko Brando than ever before and even though none of us knows for sure who the bio parents of the three children really are, they seemed very much Michael's. The sadness in their little faces told more than any DNA test ever could. It was strange that right as the casket was being carried in the Jackson's cut the live feed and sound so all we got were pool pictures from an overhead camera. We were told that Gladys Knight sang "The Lord's Prayer" and that Joe Jackson spoke (I'm glad that I missed the sound on that particular speech.). Will Michael Jackson finally rest in peace? I doubt it. If a place can be found that will allow his fans to walk past his grave and spend a small fortune on souvenirs I'm sure that Michael will be moved just like Elvis was. I hope not because I believe that he deserves the peace and quiet of this beautiful and private place. I've been to the grounds of Forest lawn Glendale and it is truly a serene setting. Now we will wait for the fireworks to begin...the charges and accusations have only just begun to fly and the arrests haven't been made as of yet. The truth may never fully be known as to who did what to cause Michael Jackson's death (aside from Michael Jackson and his lackey doctors). Michael was a man of influence. power and money and he got all the medical care that money could buy. He got all of the drugs that some quack could provide for the right price and it killed him. Now, I hope that his musical legacy will live on and the lessons from his untimely and unnecessary death will be something that helps to change the world of drugs for sale to the highest bidder. Michael got what he paid for. He got substandard medical care because that's what he paid for and what he demanded. He died by the hand of another but his own hand was also holding the needles and the medicine bottles.
Sorry, Michael, I think that you had a lot more songs inside you and now they will never be written.
