Sept. 3, 2009 I usually don't write political articles but I have finally become fed up enough to comment. I can't remember in my entire life's history hearing a candidate promise so much in his Presidential campaign as Barrack Obama did. He not only made copious promises to the American people, but also promised to accomplish all of it in a very short period of time. Even to my untrained ear I knew that he was going way off of the mark and that it wasn't possible to accomplish all that he promised. Health care for example, has been a hot button issue for many years and thus far, nearly impossible to reach a consensus on among both Republicans and Democrats not to mention all of us. Energy efficiency is another hot button topic that has made slow progress in my lifetime and it's obvious that to fix the problem completely will take time, cooperation and innovation. Rome wasn't built in a day, but to hear Mr. Obama talk you'd think it was as easy as the snap of his fingers. The President and his fellow Democrats don't even have the excuse of a true bi-partisan Congress to block their plans. They don't even need the opposing party in order to pass the bills that they want to pass. Sadly, they can't seem to agree amongst themselves on what bills to pass and how to write them so that everyone benefits. I am really tired of the President running around and talking, talking, talking. He is everywhere; the Internet, townhall meetings, radio, television ...everywhere. How about spending some time in the Oval Office figuring out ways to actually keep those promises, Mr. President? How about you stay at home in that big white house you were elected to occupy a little more trying to figure things out with your trusted advisors instead of yapping so much? I never believed for one moment that Obama could deliver on all of those promises but I believe that the country was so down in the mouth and so dis-satisfied with the status quo that they bought the "Yes We Can" bologna hook line and sinker. If people had stopped for a second and thought about how Congress was pushing through stimulus packages with our money (without bothering to even read what they contained or how they would effect the country down the road), there would have been a lot less "Yes We Can" and a lot more "WTF???" Now, we sit and wait...some of us out of work, some of us without any cost of living raises in our fixed incomes (for a promised two years), some of us wondering how we will both eat and buy medications from one month to the next. Some of us desperate and disillusioned...and scared. Please hear me Mr. President...step away from your tele-prompter and use that so-called Harvard educated brain that so many based their votes and beliefs on and actually tackle one thing at a time that you can actually accomplish. I am waiting...we are waiting for "Yes You Can".........
Right now all I can say to you is "WTF??"
