Pink Ribbons, Blueberries And Prostate Awareness Week

By Bonijean Isaacs

Last Week, I stopped at Panera Bread on my way to work. I purchased Java and a Pink Ribbon Bagel to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Week. The Pink Ribbon Bagel is actually a Cherry Vanilla Bagel shaped like a ribbon. There is so much ado about Breast Cancer which is a good thing.

My concern is that there is absolutely nothing done about Prostate Cancer. Cancer is an equal opportunity disease and both genders are equally valuable to society. Why is there not not a Prostate Awareness Week? I suggested to the Cashier that we have a Prostate Awareness week and they can sell Blueberry Bagels shaped like ribbons to honor the event. "What a great idea!" she replied.

I am a former exotic dancer and my breasts were very much an important aspect of that job. I also nursed two babies so they achieved their purpose in life. I have the resources to monitor the health status of my breasts. If there is a problem, I can fix it and maybe even get some new ones that defy gravity like they did when I was on stage. Ye Haw!

I also have a fondness for the male prostate and the special effects that they can achieve. They also helped to launch my two sons into the world thus also achieving it's purpose in life. Blueberries are a magnificent way to honor the male prostate among other things.

Blueberries are packed with vitamin B6, vitamin C , vitamin K, manganese, dietary fiber. It contains anthocyanin, phenolic, antioxidant pigments, phytochemical and ellagic acid, that prevents cell damage, inflammation and cancers. Blueberries are full of age defying components. They provide the brain full of "feel good" chemicals such as endorphins and serotonin. Blueberries increase the metabolism and can even be a natural form of Viagra.

The dirty old man who still can eats blueberry cobbler for breakfast every morning.

So last week after stopping at Panera Bread, I went to my job as a Produce Merchandiser. That morning, A customer came in and purchased every single blueberry in the store.

I had to reload the bunker full of cherries and listen to irate customers all day because there were no blueberries. They were all sold out. Maybe the blueberry buying customer overheard me talk to the Cashier at Panera Bread about Prostate Awareness Week.
