May 11, 2009 It was about 100 years ago that a book entitled The Protocols of the Elders of Zion appeared in Russia. It had the appearance of a denunciation of a Jewish conspiracy to dominate the world through a number of measures, such as instigating wars and depressions, disseminating propaganda and economic and political doctrines, undermining financial systems and so forth. Shortly after its appearance, much of the writing in the book was shown to be a plagiarism of an earlier book written as a satire. One thing that lent a deal of credibility to the book, though, was that Theodor Herzl, the then-leader of world Jewry, had recently convoked the First Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland. And, to be honest, there is much in the book that is reminiscent of Jewish activists, billionaires and moguls. The book was very influential in the first decades of the twentieth century, and with none other than Henry Ford, the distinguished automobile manufacturer. Ford wrote a book called The International Jew: The World’s Foremost Problem. This was not just the spontaneous, random reflections of a passive observer. Ford actually hired detectives and researchers to collect information on the dealings and machinations of powerful Jews of his day, and many of the allegations that he made can be substantiated. This was an era when Paul Warburg, the founder of the Federal Reserve System, Jacob Schiff, who financed Japan’s victory in the Russo-Japanese War, Louis Brandeis, Louis Marshall, Samuel Untermyer and Henry Morgenthau were operating in the United States, and Chaim Weizmann, the first President of Israel, was collaborating with Great Britain to assure Britain’s rescue in WWI by involving the United States, according to some accounts. There are some defects in Ford’s book. One is that it tends to be vitriolic at times, instead of dispassionate. But the more serious defect is that he relied too much on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. He knew it was a “forgery”, but his argument was that, even so, they reflected accurately what was really going on in the world. There is some merit to this idea of his, but references to The Protocols merely made him vulnerable to the criticism of those who would dismiss his whole work. It was his Achilles’ heel. I read The Protocols several years ago and cannot really remember all the strands of logic in the book, but I do recall that none of the players in the drama are named. The whole book passes without any particular individual’s having been identified unequivocally. To my way of thinking, such a book, whether or not plagiarized or forged, is worthless if it doesn’t name the names. I merely sighed to myself, as if to say, “Oh, well!” after the big build-up that had led me to the book in the first place. It might be a great book for scaring naughty little Arab children, but beyond that I couldn’t see any application, regardless of what Henry Ford thought. Why do I need The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, when I have The Protocols of the Elders of Wall Street? For the past six or seven weeks, I have been reading articles on finance and economics feverishly, acquainting myself with the terminology, all the CDS’s, CDO’s, LBO’s, MBS’s, CAPM’s, LIBOR’s, GAAP’s and the like, any trying to monitor the Financial Crisis now unfolding on Wall Street and throughout the world. One thing I have not been able to help noticing is the great number of Jewish names involved in the whole economic catastrophe. If The Protocols of the Elders of Zion doesn’t name the names, surely, The Protocols of the Elders of Wall Street, my nickname for online financial reporting websites, certainly does. Who are all these people: Madoff, Fuld, Lehman, Blankfein, Goldman, Sachs, Bear, Stearns, Schwartz, Bernanke, Kohn, Greenspan, Greenberg, Summers, Soros, Icahn? Sure, there were Gentiles involved too. But since Jews make up only 2-1/2% of the population of the US, there should be 39 Gentiles for every Jew. I named 16 Jews. Can you name 624 Gentiles involved?
Someone may retort that I am anti-Semitic, as if I have some personal animosity towards Jews and am libeling them to gratify my bigotry. But that’s not the case at all. This kind of reasoning is mere sophistry. I have no animosity towards Jews. In fact, I haven’t even known a Jew for years. I am merely stating the facts. I’m not even entirely convinced that it wasn’t the Jewish presence that made America as great as it is, since so many Jews have fine minds. But the events that have taken place since 2001 are making me wonder. The attack on the World Trade Center, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the confrontation with Iran, and now the Financial Crisis all have a predominant Jewish factor. And they do sound like the things outlined in The Protocols of the Elders of Zion!
