March 6, 2009 Wow, this has been a tough week for choosing a GOOPER Of The Week. There were so many candidates. Some that really trashed my view of reality were Bobby Jindal (still putting politics over people), Sarah Palin (no sir by golly we don’t need no bailout money in Alaska), Joe the Plumber (I’ll slap the snot out of you if you don’t believe what I believe), and of course there is always Rush Low Ball (Socialism has taken over the Whitehouse). Let’s not forget Congressman John Boehner (the smell of socialism permeates his mind as well, or obsesses it…whatever). Does that man ever smile? Oh that’s right, GOOPERS aren’t smiling nowadays. How can they? We have a president able to speak in complete sentences, amazing. Texas Republican Tom Delay stated that he is in concert with Rush Low Ball’s mantra, “I want President Obama to fail.” Nice. Republicans really do not take defeat well do they? So you can see my dilemma. There’re just so many GOOPERS out there. I watched parts of Rush Low Ball’s speech at CPAC. If he was a pitcher in the National League, he could keep his rivals on their toes. He is so able to mix just enough truth with his lies that he makes sense on the surface of his arguments. Rush throws a curve every time he opens his mouth. His idea that the poor are poor because they’ve been made to believe their poor by the Democrats instead of the Republican policy of giving to the rich so that the money trickles down to…uh, no one. Man, I can remember going to some old religious tent-revival meetings when I was a youngster. The CPAC revival reminded me of those meetings. Rush and the gang at CPAC made you want to walk away and ask for forgiveness for being a lost socialist left wing liberal. I’m so ashamed of myself. Rush almost made me want to apologize for being unemployed and heading to the poorhouse. That guy can talk out of both sides of his mouth, must be the Oxycotton. Socialism seemed to be the mantra of the entire event. Every friend of Obama’s fiscal stance is a socialist. Kind of makes you wonder what direction the Republicans are heading, a theocracy? But, I guess after reviewing some of the speeches given at CPAC I serious wondered if maybe the Republican Party is scared, really scared. The elite White Congressmen and media moguls are scared about the possibility of getting their butts tromped in 2010 and 2012. Those Southern good ol’ boys are a little worried that just maybe the South won’t rise again.
I’ve thought about it and thought about it and have made a decision. At first, I thought Joe the Plumber would be the GOOPER of the week, but hey it’s not the guy’s fault for being allowed a platform in the Republican CPAC (I think of something medical every time I hear that acronym). The real GOOPER this week and probably for weeks to come is the entire Republican Party, or what’s left of it.
