Are You Happy?

By M. Farooq Jawaid
June 19, 2009

This is one simple question that can make anyone swim in the ocean of thoughts with sun shinning brightly in the sky or thunder clouds. For some people, this can be more difficult that giving first interview of their career.

Concept of happiness varies with respect to every individual irrespective of all the worldly groupings of age, gender and social circle. What exactly can make anyone happy and how this attribute of life can be accomplished is my major concern.

You get up one morning and say to yourself that this is a wonderful day and plan your chores accordingly rather than contemplating them as a horror movie. But as the day passes, one realizes that there are instances that are out of your control and you end up with a blue heart with black thoughts on head when you end your day. You realize that this scenario has failed so let’s try on some other ideology that can make your belief cemented to your sour.

Now there is this scenario where people usually tend to move out or more specifically crack out of their shells. This model is based on individual theorem of right and wrong of every individual. To gain happiness, a person thinks that it’s the routine that’s making his life miserable so he tries to do things that makes him happy. This sometimes makes one indulge in immoral activities. Well, if you think it is right take a step forward but beware of the preying eyes of your near ones.

I recently got terminated from my job but I was not sad but that does not mean that I am happy. I follow the principles that, “if there is no solution to any problem, then why worry about it”. On the other hand, “if there is a solution then again why worry about it.”

My termination was a problem that had no solution, so I was not sad. I was not happy as I do not have a back-up job to continue my financial circle. Happiness is within oneself and does not come with money or advices but with sharing and belief.

Look into yourself and see what you still have up your sleeves and where can you shine that ray of hope. My termination brought new experiences that I can use at some other place with some new people.
