June 19, 2009 Yup you didn’t fail. Fall of the wagon, gorge, scarf, binge. Your diet failed you. Diets today are made to fail. And why because of few factors that make all diets not worth while. First they ask you to sacrifice yourself to the diet god. Yes there you are on the alter of scale, wearing only your underwear and pledging to remove all offending foods if only they would grant a 1 pound weight loss. Yes you will bear the Habit of crankiness, irritability and hunger if only the scale god would grant a 2 pound weight loss. Yes you will bear the low fat low taste diet plate in front of everyone at Thanksgiving if only the scale god would grant any pound weight loss. You will gladly purchase enough pre packaged portion controlled imitation food items if only the scale god would grant you a three pound weight loss by the time cousin Joanie’s wedding comes around and you can fit into just one size smaller dress. Your sacrifices and prayers went unheeded. Your offerings of tossing out the cheesecake in favor of funky undertaste cheesecake pudding didn’t do it. Those celery stalk and carrots that changed your skin color didn’t work either which no you have to get major cover-up makeup until is dissipates. It would not be so bad if it were summer and you could blame it on bad tanning lotion, but hey its deep December. Diet books and diet gurus all promise the moon but in reality it is no different than PT Barnums "This way to the great Egress". They tell you if you give up this and that, if you eat only one or two foods in rotation, if you drink boiled buffalo hide, or eat only grapes. If you blast your colon full of g= coffee and yogurt and speed up your heart with pseudo SPEED. You will loose weight. And what happens, It pops back on again. In spades, or quadruple’s weight. I hate to say it but look at Kirstie Alley. Portion control and food chemistry programs works as long as you stay on it. They were never meant for you to go off of it and cook for yourself or even slip up once. It really was just a matter of time before the inanity of it all would take its toll. Other diets target over eaters. Many diet authors and doctors assume that people are overweight because they sit and eat and don’t move. And because of that stigma Diets are big business. What gets so many hooked is the images. Photoshop manipulated images. And if you actually read the new diet pills, aside from so many being stimulants, the diet that they give you that you follow is low fat, low carb standard fare and you have to exercise. So do you rally need these diet pills or are they a crutch. And to make matters worse so many diets can turn a seemingly small feeling of bloat or even PMS into a lifelong battle with any of the anorexia’s or bulimia’s. The diet business is a multi billion dollar industry. Just look at what bombards you day in and day out. Every magazine you pick up has a new panacea diet guaranteed to make you drop 10, 20 in three days (you get the idea). It is a hand over fist business and we the public both men and women, male and female, boys and girls are the ones sucking it up left and right. Diets are made to fail so you will buy into the next one in hopes that this one will work for you. And it sells magazines, products, celebrity endorsements, books, gear etc. A diet should fit the person, Period. If a person is over weight and a non-eater or eats a few foods then the question should be why is this person heavy? Could it be a food allergy. Assuming that they eat and eat can be misleading and will often lead to lack of medical care for some. And yet they feed the diet failure world because of this lack of medical care. The medical community should stop looking at every obese person and say your fat because you eat too much. I remember an episode of either Dr. Kildare or Ben Casey where a man who was morbidly obese was told to go on a diet. Every time he weighed in he gained. So everyone thought he was eating and eating. Back then you didn’t have the fast foods like we have now. So the doctor made a trip o to his home only to look in his cabinets and fridge and see there was no food in the house at all and only two celery sticks in the fridge. It has been proved that people don’t always gain weight from over eating. Even science has proved that if you don’t eat you can gain weight. And you know what Guilt sets in if you do eat to loose weight. And then that makes you look for a new diet to loose that weight that you gained why you weren’t eating, and that means Welcome to the diet world. Yo-yo is nothing compared to the diet mobius.
When will the craziness end.
