July 30, 2009 They call themselves the Nigerian Taliban and for some time they had just been content at festering what would seem like religious intolerance between Christians and muslims with the usual banter abput who 'started' it. For a truth the people of the former colonial town called Jos bore the brunt of the extremism which began its dry run in 2001 but continued puting its feelers since up to November 2008 when the violence and intimidation manifested again. The official line of government and some sections of the international community was that it was the intolerant indigenes who were emasculating the settlers. The first lady herself came in and openly took sides with the so called 'persecuted settlers', she went back to state house and sold the same fish to her husband -the president who followed suit. The vindication of Jos people began when the president conducted a condolence visit to the city and his convoy was stoned by youths of the same settler cross section. The shameful reception was played down by the propaganda machinery of the settler institution based in the north of the country as was their stoking of the embers following the November 28 terrorist attacks on the city... then the M.O. was 'attack and take over' the city and impose extreme sectarian rule. How that was possible in this modern day and age as against the olden days when the religious crusade failed to do so beats imagination. Following that recent carnage they moved shop a dry ran again in Bauchi, a neighboring state. Still the president sat on his hands.
The eruption of the violence in Bauchi again and sporadically 4 other
Northern states speaks to the nonspontaneity of this dastard act, the
fact that people of Jos, long victims have crying foul about. These
extremists now confident that the government would sit by and look?
Decided they did the time was ripe to have terror and will travel...
The vindication is that the same naive , ignorant and idiotic
establishment and canaille of the North are witnessing and
experiencing the actions of seeds they sowed-dragons teeth. For the Jos
people it is vindication that hitherto the rest of the world thought
wrongly, now the whole world is seeing and hearing the message they
have been trying to get out since 2001.
