The Never-Ending Saga Of Caylee Anthony

By Meri Ulrich
Jan. 30, 2009

Since the discovery of Caylee Anthony's skeletonized remains the news media has been in a frenzy. The case gets more complicated and confusing with every passing day.

Daily, vultures emerge to claim their fifteen minutes of fame and to complicate the case further.

I have no personal knowledge of what really happened to that innocent child, but I do have my theories.

I believe that Casey Anthony (Caylee's mother) drugged her so that she could party and that act resulted in the child's death.

It has been stated by many defense attorneys, (talking heads) that there is no proof that Casey committed a heinous act of child abuse that warrants the charge of first degree murder. I disagree.

Using an illegal substance to forcefully drug a child is the perfect definition of child abuse in my opinion. I doubt that Casey hit, shot, strangled or stabbed that child, but, doesn't drugging a child qualify as abuse? There was no prescription issued by a qualified doctor, there was no reason that the child be forced to go to sleep other than the fact that the mother wanted time to party and be with her friends.

Of course, only Casey really knows what happened to her child, but the very fact that she never reported her child missing (until the grandmother forced her to) and there is probably no way to absolutely determine exactly how Caylee died.

Let me list the reasons why I believe that Casey is the sole perpetrator in her daughter's death:

1. She was the person last seen with her child
2. She lied to EVERYONE about the circumstances of the child's disappearance
3. She has changed her story at least once
4. Her car smelled of a decomposing body
5. There were extremely high amounts of Chloroform found in the trunk of the car
6. Casey's password was used on her family's computer searching for Chloroform, neck-breaking, missing children's web sites and other suspicious materials.
7. She led the police on a wild goose chase and lied to them throughout her original interview and since
8. She complained to friends that Caylee was hampering her desired lifestyle

I believe that in some way, (other than the recorded visitations with her family), that Casey told someone where Caylee's remains were and that this resulted in a member of the Anthony family's team of PI's to actually go to that site and video tape the surrounding area prior to the official discovery of Caylee's remains. How did they know where to look?

If they even suspected that Caylee was dead and where her remains were they should have notified the police...but, they didn't.

When Cindy and George Anthony appeared on Larry King's show a day before the body was found I noticed that when George spoke or answered questions, Cindy would either answer for him or place her hand on his knee. I took that as some kind of signal that he should be careful of what he was saying. I also found that Cindy has been the controlling factor since this case first came to light. In the jail, when visiting Casey she asks her to look up so that she can see Casey's eyes at one point. She comments that Casey knows that she has to do this when speaking to her mother.  Cindy and George have also changed their stories on several occasions.

As a Mom myself, I can usually tell when one of my kids is lying and I do that by looking at their eyes. I believe that ALL of the Anthony's know and knew of Casey's propensity to lie and steal and that they have always suspected that she was involved in the disappearance of their granddaughter. I also believe that from the moment that they became aware that Caylee was gone, they began to lie and cover-up for their daughter.

Many have stated that the grieving Anthony's should be left in peace but I believe that in some way at least one of them is an accessory after the fact and that at the very least they have participated in hampering the police investigation into Caylee's disappearance. By asking the police for immunity they practically admit some complicity, in my opinion. Why do you need immunity if you are telling the truth?

The child's remains sit in a box in a funeral home and even though the "second autopsy" requested by the defense was completed almost a week ago, there has been no funeral for this little, innocent child.

There are far more questions than answers in this sad case and I doubt that we will ever know the complete truth of what happened to Caylee Marie Anthony.

What I do know is that this child came from an extremely dysfunctional family and that she died because of this dysfunctional behavior.

I hope that someday there is justice for Caylee because that is all she has left to mark her short little life. At the very least, she deserves that.
