Despite rapidly growing evidence that the Anthropogenic Global Warming crowd has perpetrated one of the biggest scams in modern times, Congresscritter Henry Waxman...he of the visage of a Duroc boar...intends to pass a "Climate Change" bill by this coming Memorial Day--designed, in part, to "lower greenhouse gas emissions by 80% before 2050!"   Apparently, he's gotten 31 other Congressmen and women to join him in that effort.  That means that at least 10% of "our" congresspeople are apparently scientifically illiterate enough to buy into this hoax, hook, line and sinker.

 

The effort to declare CO2 to be a "pollutant" ran into serious trouble from the outset because, despite the effort to dumb down the American electorate, enough people have at least rudimentary understanding of real science to know that CO2 is actually plant food--without which there'd be no life on the planet whatsoever.  Later, it became known that even so, the so-called "greenhouse gasses" in our atmosphere are, by far, dominated by water vapor--to the tune of about 96%, in point of fact, and that CO2 (sorry for the lack of a subscript) makes up only about 3% with the remaining 1% comprised of various other gasses such as methane, CFC's, argon, etc.  It stands to reason then, if one wanted to have a REAL impact on reducing "greenhouse gasses" (which, by the way, keep Earth habitable) one would naturally attack the "problem" of too much water vapor in the atmosphere and not such a minute gas as CO2.  Of course, it's VERY difficult to convince people that WATER is dangerous, so CO2 was the next-best "culprit."

 

Since the Earth has been actually cooling since about 1998, these scam-artists have changed their focus to "Climate Change," as if that had never happened before by completely natural processes.   Also, none of these hoaxers has ever been able to answer why, if  man is the "culprit" in rising CO2 levels by using electric toothbrushes and driving SUVs, the polar caps on Mars have been shrinking for about 30 years.  Last time I heard, the stuff we've sent to Mars has all been VERY "environmentally friendly" and has run on solar-batteries...while it's actually run at all. 

 

Unfortunately, we now have a bunch of bugwits in charge of things and we can anticipate MANY more efforts such as Waxman's idiotic legislation to rear their ugly heads.  In my opinion, those at the root of the "green" movement are doing what the old USSR failed to do...damage our economy to the point where the general population will clamor for government controls over every aspect of it.  What the USSR and other crypto-communists envied about the USA most was our productivity--especially in foodstuffs.    That's one reason I never seriously worried about their launching a nuclear strike against us--because it would have utterly destroyed that productivity.  Instead, they sought to damage our economy to the point where internal pressure would be brought to bear so creeping socialism would be seen as our "salvation."  With the fall of the USSR, those unreconstructed communists, as well as their fascist counterparts, formed a coalition to accomplish the same thing.  The "environmentalist movement" was only one of the techniques they thought would get them what they most desired--political power. 

 

Unfortunately, their efforts have, do a degree, been fairly successful.  We've seen the election of the first Marxist to the Presidency and the installation of the most liberal Congress in recent memory.  In addition, and unfortunately with the help of the GOP, we've also seen more and more socialist policies instituted in this country--the recent "bail-out" stampede, for example.  However, environmentalism relies on outright lies for its "successes" and that won't stand long-term scrutiny.  Every "environmental crisis" has, over the long term, proven to be based on lies, or, at best, VERY faulty "science."  DDT was NOT killing raptors and sea turtles.  The "ozone hole" was shown to be a natural phenomenon based on direct sunlight and completely unrelated to CFCs like Freon (c).  "Acid rain" was NOT the culprit in acidification of NE lakes and streams--it was rainfall runoff picking up tannic acid as it filtered through forest-floor detritis.  Now, "global warming" is proving to be related to sun spot activity and the resulting increases in solar radiation and has nothing whatsoever to do with man-generated CO2.

 

Unfortunately, we still have a cadre of unreconstructed, scientifically illiterate idiots in the Congress who are determined to cost us billions of dollars "fighting" a problem that's been proven to be as phony as, "I did NOT have sex with that woman--Ms Lewinsky."  We're stuck with them for the next 2 years, at least.  Here's hoping that 2010 proves to be their ultimate downfall.
