Trying To Steal My Christmas Joy

By Michael John McCrae
Jan. 7, 2009

There is a group of malcontented people in the world who have taken it as their life's pleasure to make other people miserable. These malcontents hate to see other people enjoying such things as helping others, supporting American soldiers at war, giving gifts to poor children or giving voluntary time to soup kitchens.

These malcontents have contaminated traditional efforts of humanitarianism and charity with declarations couched in intellectualism and atheistic humanism, declaring the efforts of the truly faithful as counterproductive.

There was a time in history when national leaders were considered gods. These various kings and princes ruled by fiat and accepted very little debate over their personal policies and practices. Some of these kingdoms thrived while others became decadent and barbaric. Historically, the barbaric and decadent nations preyed on nations less warlike and more culturally productive, whether out of envy or simple hatred.

The malcontent that declares there is no god is akin to history's barbarian. He sees the contentment exhibited in the charitable act and the productivity driven by rules of faith consigned to a power higher than men and the malcontent determines this to be unfair to him. It is not right that others should be content. He would prefer that everyone else share the misery he feels.

Malcontents are thieves.

Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy and peace. Malcontents display signs spouting hateful messages of anti-hope. With the aid of a pliant media, it is the malcontents who get the exposure and the support normally reserved for victims. It is the malcontent who must receive the condolence or the apology. It is the person of faith who gains the description of racist or bigot or homophobe or intolerant.

This is theft.

Christmas is the ultimate reminder to the person of faith of his duty to other men. When people of faith act on the rules spoken by their Lord, the spiritual rewards in peace and contentment overflow. None of these acts of faith determine hurt or harm to any soul. Acts of faith are as much for the benefit of the faithful as for the faithless. The Christian God determines all men worthy to receive the blessings and joys of faith.

So why is the malcontented humanist intent on stealing such an important reminder from those who trust in the Christian God?

Whether it is envy or simple hatred does not matter. It is enough that humanist malcontents are wrong. The correct position on any traditional remembrance of the Lord Jesus is that of the historian. Humanism cannot disprove the historical Jesus. Humanism cannot explain how the 33-year history of a carpenter eclipses the myriad histories of kings and princes who actually ruled earthly kingdoms for much greater periods while leaving little or no legacy. Humanism cannot explain the support of the archaeological record of God on earth.

Their sole explanation is "biblical myth". My sole explanation of their sole explanation is "lack of faith" in the historical and archaeological record of God.

Do not let the lies of humanism steal your Christmas joy.
