Dec. 11, 2009 On A1A the traffic slowed and there was a long bend that began to turn to the left. Up to the right there was an eighteen wheel truck on its side engulfed in flames. The fire seemed unreal and the passengers felt as if they were watching a film and not a real life accident. It seemed to burn in slow motion there, up the way from the Fords, from the Buicks, from various pick-up trucks. Birds that had been on wires flew away in flocks up and up and up and then across. Burning and burning. The birds were not burning but the birds too seemed somehow to burn.
