By Ken Hughes Aug. 30, 2009 The last article I [Ken Hughes] posted on Useless Knowledge was in October 2007 nearly two years ago. You can imagine my surprise when I received an e-mail from Tim Stelly one of UK ’s long time contributors informing me I was in one of his upcoming works. The bigger surprise was why would he include me at all? I’m certainly not in the same league as Alan Keyes and some of the other notables he’s been writing about recently. Mr. Stelly is to put it mildly a stalwart supporter of President Obama while I on the other hand don’t have the same admiration for the man. I see Obama in his first six months in office as a failed president. I can’t recall a president in the past 75 years as arrogant as Obama. I can’t recall a president who’s been deified to the point Obama has with such little reason. The last president prior to Obama who was held in such high esteem was Franklin Roosevelt and as the world knows his reward after life was having his likeness imprinted on the dime our smallest coin and not Mount Rushmore our largest presidential symbol. Obviously Mr. Stelly’s purpose for digging me out of UK ’s trash heap of forgotten contributors was revenge. In the past I’d pointed out more than once if Mr. Stelly’s cause were better represented with more accurate facts and less hyperbole, less whining and less blaming others for his and his constituents self promoting failures he may get more support and less sympathy from the real world. Mr. Stelly is a very intelligent man and an outstanding writer who is being duped into thinking he’s owed something he isn’t. Mr. Stelly is one of those African Americans who find it more convenient to blame Anglos for his less than spectacular rise in society than himself. I would point out to Mr. Stelly the low road is seldom the road to the top of the mountain. I would like to point out I have no problem with Mr. Stelly using me as an example for what he perceives as the failure of the Bush years something he so aptly pointed out in his article. If he recognizes I have the same right to question the Obama failures without being called un-American a bigoted racist or worse. My I point out Mr. Stelly never used these words but others have. Everyone has a right to express their support or lack of on every issue without fear of intimidation by their government and its supporters. I must say I was very proud to be one of the first on Obama’s internet enemy’s list. I was looking forward to some sort if retaliation but like so many of Obama’s proposals the enemy’s list has fizzled out and will soon be forgotten. Thank you Tim for remembering me I’m honored, very few do. ------------ About the author: Ken Hughes is a retired businessman, who’s traveled extensively, observed much and learned much.
