Aug. 13, 2009 The U.S. Secretary for State traveled to Africa and unfortunately forgot to pack some tools .Her retinue thought of all the imaginable -the ‘I am American ratchet’ , ‘the I am a my own woman wrench’, ‘the I was a presidential candidate screw driver’ and most importantly the don’t remind me ‘Bill’s my husband hammer’. The one most important tool she obviously forgot to take along was the ‘I got humor –pun thingamajig…’ It was at a question and answer session in The Congo when a news person dared ask “what would Bill…” and boy did he get the hammer –whammer! The reported incidence was all over the BBC audience call in participation program ‘Have Your Say’, and many people called some chiding Hilary for her outburst and others most, even the host to some extent, quick to see it as another reason why the continent of Africa is backward…well yeah my words probably, but come on what the heck? I mean every meaning is read into the brouhaha which need not have got to that. I mean come on people. But then it is not so big a secret Hilary Rodham Clinton is a woman with a chip on her shoulder – she just probably stored it in her wardrobe after assuming high office. Before I get sidetracked, as usual, the issue is not just her but the ‘fest’ the purported incidence became about how African men treat women, view women etcetera etcetera .the same question would have asked somewhere in small USA and she would just ‘eaten ‘ it with smile. Other callers and responders actually felt she should been taken it in stride, no big deal sort of posture- but then I guess ‘skin deep’ is just as far as some things go. We all know what happened years back when Al Gore did the Macarena, the Macarena…and it was not funny.
If you ask me I would tell The Lady to lighten up!
