Apr. 23, 2009 For all of you who aren't looking for work, trying to hold on to the job you already have, trying to prevent the foreclosure of your home and various other real and relevant problems, I bring you a current update on our culture. Let's begin with the latest headlines. 1.) Perez Hilton (a parasitic, nasty big mouth who takes his pseudo-name from yet another parasitic creature of the 21st Century), asked a Miss USA candidate what she thought of gay marriage. She gave her opinion which was definitely not politically correct and the roof came down. It warranted coverage on every single news program and I doubt that we will hear the end of it anytime soon. My comment on all of this is why does anyone even listen to either Perez Hilton or a Miss USA candidate? Neither of them has one iota of relevance. 2.) A man was arrested in Boston for killing one woman and robbing two others (that we know of), and the usual dumb comment was heard round the world, "But he looks so normal". It isn't bad enough that we haven't figured out that "normal" looking people can be vicious killers, (remember Ted Bundy, he was a law student, handsome and charismatic and a serial killer), but because someone is a good student and a future doctor he couldn't possibly "first do no harm" as he would have sworn too if he hadn't of been caught. 3.) Cable television has reached new lows with the addition of Jane Velez Mitchell who should require a warning label at the start of her afternoon show "Issues". The label should read, "Caution...this women's voice may break all the glass in your home or cause serious damage to the viewer's hearing". Listening to her also requires an immediate need for a large dose of pain medication to stop the headache that her constant yelling induces. This crap now passes for important news coverage. In-between her rants about the "war on women" being waged in the USA, the horrid abuse of animals (which I believe includes termites and the common housefly), she has a panel of talking heads giving inane opinions and lots and lots of psycho-babble. And yes, I watched the show and have first hand knowledge of the need for Advil while doing so. When I realized that aside from the splitting headache that her screaming gave me, that my television screen might explode at any moment I turned it off. 4.) The Anthony Family is another phenomenon that stops me in my tracks. Whether or not you believe that Casey Anthony killed her daughter or not (I do), the spectacle of two total idiots running around making total asses of themselves while telling lie after lie boggles the mind. Cindy Anthony is a control freak, lying weirdo who obviously passed on her scary genetic traits to her daughter and poor George Anthony is just plain embarrassing to watch and listen too. For example, when being question under oath by the lawyer for Zenaida Gonzalez he corrected the attorney by telling him that the word "Zanny the Nanny" was actually spelled "Z-a-n-y the Nanny". The only thing "zany" during that deposition was poor George and his apparent lack of intellect. The above is only a small part of the current headlines and what I didn't mention is equally if not more depressing.
I almost miss the bail-out hearings and the minute by minute reportage of the downfall of the Roman Empire (whoops...I mean the USA). At least it was relevant.
