Sept. 26, 2008 I have broken a promise that I made to myself about
a year ago. I have been relentlessly watching all of the recent news coverage of
all thing political and economic. Of course, I am thoroughly depressed, but I
have no one to blame but myself.
Let me begin with the media; one of the world's
greatest perpetrators of doom and gloom and in my opinion, largely responsible
for much of the panic and misery that many of us feel these days.
If there is no natural disaster or horrendous
calamity occurring then it seems as if the media, et al, take every single
detail about every single issue and blow it up to astronomical proportions in
order to garner high ratings. Never mind that they may be creating a nation of
frightened individuals or sending people running and screaming to sell off
stocks. Never mind that they may be attempting to influence the American
election process in the most biased way possible for whichever candidate they
deem worthy of the office of President. There appears to be no subject too
important or too controversial for them to simply report the news as it happens
without slanting it to suit their own needs.
Bad news sells......there is no such thing as a
slow news day anymore. If it isn't happening, they will make it happen.
Now let me move on to the entertainment business.
Take "The View"...yeah, PLEASE take "The View" and delete it from the
consciousness of everyone who has ever watched it or listened to those harpies
spew their highly uninformed opinions upon the hearts and minds of the public.
You can include Oprah and 95% of Hollywood in that deletion from the human
consciousness while you're at it. Who ever said that just because you have
an audience of several million people watching your supposedly entertainment
oriented shows that you have the knowledge and education to bash one candidate
or the other? What's even worse is that the national news media reports
on that bashing and on those uneducated biased rants so it becomes a part of the
supposed actual news.
Garbage in, garbage out.....
Last but not least I'd like to offer my sincere
sympathy to all of the New Yorkers who were subjected to stalled traffic and
total inconvenience so that a bunch of useless, pompous world leaders could
convene and do absolutely nothing in that very busy city. Isn't
there something really important that they could do with that wasted space that
is occupied by that wasted organization known as The United Nations? New York
could surely use that large space for something that would actually be important
and beneficial.
Waste not, want not.......
Stay tuned, the first Presidential debate is almost
upon us and something tells me that I shall return sooner rather than later to
rant some more.
