Sept. 23, 2008 There's simply no other explanation for why he'd make this idiotic nomination. Imagine putting one of the principle people responsible for the current mortgage financial crisis in charge of fixing it! A stupid, stupid proposal at the very least! Yes, Cuomo MAY be as "tough" as McCain characterizes him. That's precisely how he was able to help get Fannie May and Freddie Mac into the trouble they're currently IN! His father (Cuomo's), as governor of New York, nearly broke the State financially once and for all and Andrew is a chip off the old block.
Added to all that was McCain's penchant for blaming "Wall Street" for the debacle instead of placing it where it belongs. That being the Clinton Administration's strong-arming of the mortage industry to get them to dole out home loans to people totally unqualified to receive them and completely unable to repay them. He did this, of course, simply to increase the number of home owners in an effort to bolster Clinton's "legacy" and divert us from the fact that it's mostly about boinking an intern in the Oval Office.
The mortgage/financial crisis we're now experiencing comes at a most inopportune time for McCain because people are going to incorrectly attribute the problem to the Bush Administration, which WAS, after all, inattentive to the problem, at best. When the sitting President is blamed, his putative GOP successor is going to receive some of the fall-out. It doesn't matter that Bush is NOT responsible for the crisis...even though he ignored McCain's own warning a few years ago of the looming problem. It only matters that the Democrats are simply BOUND to make hay from it by blaming it on him. The so-called "news media" aren't going to tell us the truth. They are, after all, completely in the tank for the Obama campaign and have been for the past couple of years--fascinated as they are by the prospect of a black President. Never mind that he's completely UNqualified to be President. The fact that he's black
is enough to assuage these liberals' unwarranted feelings of "guilt" that we (like every other nation on the planet, by the way) once sanctioned slavery. The irony of all this is that neither Barack Obama nor a single member of HIS ancestry has ever been a slave...at least not in the United States.
You, the reader, aren't going to be alerted to this by the so-called "mainstream media." Your only source of the truth has to come from blogs like this one or from the talk radio circuit. Even Fox is getting more and more prone to ignoring the truth in the interest of trying to be perceived by their peers as "fair and balanced"...which probably is a futile hope anyway.
McCain's proposal to put the fox back into the henhouse may be one of the most boneheaded moves he's made this election cycle. Let's hope that he doesn't blow OUR chances of dodging the lethal bullet that is an Obama presidency. Whoever on his staff that may have made this suggestion to him needs to be fired immediately--right after being drawn and quartered.
